North Wales Cricket League Division 1: Conwy go top, wins for Gresford, Halkyn, Pontblyddyn, Connah’s Quay and Mochdre 2nds

NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – JUNE 13
DIVISION ONE
Bethesda 1st XI (7) 161-10 Conwy 1st XI (18) 173-10

Australian ace Harrison Hudson whizzed past the 500 league runs mark for the season as Conwy delivered the win which puts them top of Division One.
Hudson’s run of scores to date have been: 114, 124, 32, 71, 17, 42, 98 and 71 – that’s 569 runs at an average of 71.13.
Conwy won the toss and decided to bat at Parc Meurig, posting 173 all out off 38.4, Hudson 71 and Raj Britto 39, that pair putting on 79 for the fourth wicket.
Craig Newey notched a career-best 6-43 for Pesda, Ben Parker getting 2-23 and Marlyn Gamage 2-32.

Skipper Parker hit 52 in Bethesda’s response, which ended 13 short of victory on 161 all out. Parker badly needed someone to stay with him and contribute a significant score, but it was not to happen.
For the visitors, Iwan Roberts collected 3-42, Tom Plank and Callum Davies both 2-24.
Abergele 1st XI (5) 96-10 Gresford 1st XI (18) 113-10

Gresford came out on top in a low-scoring encounter at Pentre Mawr Park.
Electing to bat after winning the toss, the Wrexham-area side were bowled out for just 113, Gele captain Lewis Tolond taking 4-36, Edward Rooney 3-16 and David Moulson a miserly 2-4 from nine overs.

Abergele collapsed to 22-5 in response, and although the middle to late order made a few, the home side could only manage 96 all out.
Simon Perry bagged 4-15 off nine, Mohammadi Gul 2-16 and Huw Bellis 2-18 for victorious Gresford.
Bangor 2nd XI (0) 107-10 Mochdre 2nd XI (18) 108-0
Andrew Butlin and Russ Boswell claimed four victims apiece as Mochdre seconds blew away Bangor seconds for a low total and then cruised to a 10-wicket victory.
The Citizens opted for first knock and perished for just 107, Peter Jones by far the biggest contributor with a defiant 46, extras amounting to 30.
Butlin bagged 4-25 and Boswell 4-34 for the visitors, who made it to 108 without loss in just 20 overs, Chris Barry 50 not out and Owen Opie 40 no.
Buckley 1st XI (4) 185-10 Halkyn 1st XI (18) 188-2
Halkyn stormed to an eight-wicket triumph in Saturday’s Flintshire derby at Lane End.
Johnny Hewitt (40) and Harry Sprowell (33) led the way as Buckley were all back in the hutch for 185 after winning the toss and batting.
Sam Hamilton gathered 4-37 and Hammad Bajwa 3-41 for the visitors, who comfortably reached 188-2 off 30.1.
Nathan Roett (59 not out – 10 fours) and Callum Ferguson (58 no) guided the away side home with an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 113.
Opener and skipper Ben Roberts had earlier made 35.
Llandudno 1st XI (7) 191-10 Pontblyddyn 1st XI (18) 227-8
Back-to-back losses for early pace-setters Llandudno, with third-place Pontblyddyn celebrating a 36-run triumph at The Oval.
Invited to bat, Pont chalked up a decent total of 227-8 off 45 overs, Cayo Jones hitting 42, Vishwa Manawaduge 40 and skipper Jamie Griffiths 38, Tom Thornton 2-41 for Tudno.
Llandudno were dismissed for 191 in reply, Jamie Grimshaw 45 and Sam Rimmington 39, Manawaduge 3-24, Rhys Jones 3-40 and Ben Mason 2-30 for the winners.
Northop 2nd XI (7) 195-10 Connah’s Quay 1st XI (18) 200-9
Quay edged home by a one-wicket margin in a close encounter at Flint Road.
Put in by the visitors, Northop seconds were all out for 195, Leo Greig 64 and David Foulkes 58, those two putting on 125 for the fourth wicket, Joshua Clarke nabbing 5-33 and Kavindu Wijethunga 3-37 for the travellers.
Despite an excellent 5-35 from Northop’s Evan Collett, the Quay made it home on 200-9, Anro Burger (50) and Luke Bennett (30) the main contributors.
The last pair of Nathan Gregory and Rhys Jones came together on 183-9, adding a crucial 17 to make the winning post with their wickets intact.
