NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS SEPTEMBER 5-6 – DIVISIONS 2-4

DIVISION TWO

Llay Welfare (12) 182-4 Denbigh 2nd XI (3) 154-9

Opener Mike Wright top-scored with 93 as Llay set a winning 182-4 off 40 overs in Sunday’s clash against Denbigh seconds.
Alys Evans took 2-25 for the visitors, who in reply were limited to 154-9, William Schrimshaw 38, Dylan Honey 3-25 and Jack Edwards 2-16 for the victors.

Gwersyllt Park 2nd XI (11) 94-10 Carmel (4) 78-10

Promoted Carmel’s title hopes took a knock when they suffered a surprise defeat at Gwersyllt.
The home side, put into bat, were dismissed for just 94, skipper Ben Grffiths 39, Antony Ralf Fernando 4-26 and Amer Jamil 2-30 for Carmel, who were then skittled out for a paltry 78. Muhammad Umair 3-5 off eight and Griffiths 3-9.

Llanrwst (12) 83-10 Brymbo 2nd XI (3) 55-10

Another low-scoring affair at Parc Gwydir, where Llanrwst were all out for 83, Tomos Rhys 5-5 off 5.1 and Sion Edwards 2-19 for the Steelmen, who were blasted away for just 55, Raju Ahmed 3-12, Alwyn Williams 2-9 and Tamal Achanjee 2-16 for the victorious hosts.

Marchwiel and Wrexham (12) 202-9 Corwen (3) 160-7

Muhummad Ghufran smashed 14 fours in a crucial 76 as Marchwiel and Wrexham posted 202-9, Sam Heard Edwards adding 30 for the hosts, Gareth Roberts 3-31, William Pooler 3-33 and Jordan Williams 2-38 for Corwen, whose reply ended on 160-7, Williams 53, Harry Pooler 35, George Forgrave 2-24, Ghufran 2-29 and Zahid Sharif 2-34 for the home team.

Menai Bridge 2nd XI (15) 63-0 Dolgellau (0) 62-10

Eight-player Dolgellau were bowled out for 62, David Owen 3-2 off 5.3 and Andrew Wannop 2-8 for the Bridge, who breezed to 63-0 off 6.4, Luke Robinson 37 not out.

St Asaph 2nd XI (4) 165-8 Llay Welfare (11) 178-5

A 13-run triumph for Llay at Elwy Park Grove.
Jack Honey (69 not out), David Phennah (37) and Nathan Humphreys (36) guided the visitors to 178-5, then Saints were kept down to 165-8, Ankush Upadhyaya 35 and Finley Hewitt 35 not out, Findlay Williams a key 5-46 for the travellers.

DIVISION THREE

Abergele 2nd XI (13) 183-9 Buckley 2nd XI (2) 108-10

Ben Garnett (49) and Arun Arikkat (46) helped Abergele post a winning total of 183-9, Ross Litchfield-Briscoe and Mathew Edge both 2-31 for Buckley, who were all back in the hutch for 108, Jatin Sharma 42, Arikkat 3-32, Sebin Sebastion 2-10, Sanjo Kuttan 2-14 and Berwyn Thomas 2-35 for the home team.

Bersham (14) 58-2 Pontblyddyn 2nd XI (1) 57-10

Title favourites and already promoted Bersham eased to an eight-wicket success at home to Pontblyddyn seconds.
Noufal Khadar scooped 5-5 off six overs and Jijin Joseph took 3-14 as Pont were sent packing for just 57 and the hosts coasted to 58-2 off 10.4, Sathyajith Ihalagama 35.

Clwb Criced Caernarfon (15) 108-10 Bethesda 2nd XI (0) 107-10

Roddy Denton picked up 4-10, Monis Altaf 2-8 and Ian Morgan 2-23 as Caernarfon removed Bethesda seconds for 107 and then cruised to 108-0 in 17.5, Altaf 73 not out and Huw Erddyn Davies 29 no.

Connah’s Quay 2nd XI (4) 177-8 Ruthin (11) 197-9

Andrew Holliday (63) and Osian Roberts (32 not out) did most to inspire Ruthin to a total of 197-9, Sheikh Sabbir grabbing an outstanding 6-15 off eight for Quay seconds, who could only manage 177-8 in response, Darren Jones 50, Imran Khan 34 not out, Jonas Roberts 2-20 and Ned Roberts 2-24 for the winning side from the Vale of Clwyd.

Conwy 2nd XI (1) 84-10 Mold 2nd XI (14) 174-8

Promoted Mold seconds enjoyed a convincing 90-run victory at Bodlondeb.
Gareth Davies made 46 as the visitors set 174-8, Lucas Davies 3-43 for Conwy seconds, who were then all back in the pavilion for just 84, Keith Embleton 3-9, Henry Wiseman 2-8, Gruffudd Edwards and Henry Roberts both 2-14.

Halkyn 2nd XI (13) 129-4 Hawarden Park 2nd XI (2) 128-7

Gareth Thomas snapped up 4-17 as Halkyn seconds limited Hawarden Park seconds to 128-7 and thr hosts made it home on 129-4, Nabeel Khan 63, Virnedar Kumar 2-22 for the visitors.

DIVISION FOUR

Northop 3rd XI (2) 90-10 Llandudno 2nd XI (13) 144-5

Hannah Thornton took a senior career best 6-11 in Llandudno seconds’ five wicket triumph at Northop.
David Barlow led the charge with 56 not out as Tudno made 144-5 off 40 overs after winning the toss and batting, Gabriel Lloyd-Roberts with 3-20 for Northop thirds, who slumped to 90 all out, opener Tomas Bevan a stoic 63 before being ninth out.
Thornton’s 6-11, coming in her first game of the season, was her second five-wicket haul for the seconds, Ranjith Thozhuthingal also snaffling 3-15 for the visitors.

Brymbo 3rd XI (4) 165-6 Pwllheli 2nd XI (11) 167-8

A tremendous win for Pwllheli seconds at leaders Brymbo thirds, who are already promoted but may now need to beat Bersham seconds convincingly on Sunday to add the title to their success.
The Steelmen won the toss in Sunday’s clash and elected to bat at the SSC, making 165-8 off 40 overs, extras top contributor with 35 and Louie Manning adding 34,
Harri Adams took 2-17 and Dylan Evans 2-20 for the visitors, who hit back with 167-8 off 38,5, Hari Glyn Williams a magnificent 72, Manning an excellent 5-17 for Brymbo.

Ruthin 2nd XI (2) 121-10 Bersham 2nd XI (13) 186-10

Ebin Varghese and Anvesh Podicheti both made 38 in Bersham’s useful effort of 186 all out, Alun Jones 3-12, Jonas Roberts 3-23 and Tom Blunt 2-33 for Ruthin seconds, who were dismissed for 121 in reply, Podicheti 4-12 and Gokuldas P Kesavan 3-23 for the Colliers.

Clwb Criced Y Bala (14) 77-2 Carmel and District 2nd XI (1) 76-8

Bala are promoted to Division Three after Saturday’s eight-wicket success over Carmel and District seconds.
Jack White snared 4-8 and Rubel Ahmed 2-21 as Carmel could only muster 76-8 off 40 overs, then Bala reached 77-2 in 19.5, White 40 not out, to edge to within two points of table-toppers Brymbo thirds with one game each left to play.

Gresford 2nd XI (13) 67-4 Llanrwst 2nd XI (2) 66-10

Sam Burke took 4-7 off eight, Vishak Kartha 3-13 and Daniel Jones 2-13 for a Gresford attack which rolled over Llanrwst seconds for just 66.
The hosts made it to 67-4 off 11.2, Oliver Egelstaff-Thomas 3-21 for the Rwsters.

Hawarden Park 3rd XI (0) 55-10 Marchwiel and Wrexham 2nd XI (15) 56-1

On this day of low totals across the league Hawarden Park thirds were another casualty, getting turned over for just 55 at Shotton.
Paul Baines took a remarkable 6-6 off eight overs for Marchwiel and Wrexham, who strolled to the winning post at 56-1 off 21 overs.
