Wrexham Foresters welcome netball to the family
Sports club Wrexham Foresters is looking forward to some new competition this season, with the introduction of Wrexham Foresters Netball.
Already possessing a thriving football section, the Wrexham area club is now expanding its sporting CV.
The netball club, previously known as Wrexham Phoenix Netball Club, has joined forces with the Foresters and has become Wrexham Foresters Netball Club from the new season.
The club, which has about 200 members, was originally founded in 2022. It is dedicated to providing an engaging experience that combines learning netball, socialising and having fun, with gaining fitness. Wrexham Foresters Netball Club offers a welcoming environment for all players, at all levels.
Caitlin Jones, player/coach and founder of the netball club explains: “What started as a ‘back to netball’ social quickly evolved into something more when over 60 women showed up for our very first practice session. We now offer regular training and have teams in a variety of local leagues. I have the support of coaches Zoe and Julie, who have been with me from the start, and we also have a whole team of volunteer coaches.”
Commented Adam Alfi, Chief Officer of Wrexham Foresters: “We are delighted to welcome netball to the Wrexham Foresters family. We had a phenomenal first season with our football and futsal teams, and as we head into our second season, we are excited to be offering multiple netball opportunities too. Whether you want to play for fun or competitively, we have a team that will suit you.
“Caitlin Jones and her incredible team of coaches and helpers have done an amazing job in establishing the netball club. With its values that align so closely with our own, the netball club will be an excellent addition to Wrexham Foresters.”
Added Caitlin Jones: “This exciting partnership allows us to remain the same club at heart, so although our kit has evolved from pink to green, we have the same coaches, values and community spirit that we have always had, while benefiting from the support, resources and long-term vision of a wider multi-sports organisation.”
Wrexham Foresters already has a thriving grassroots football club. which aims to foster inclusivity, develop local talent and create pathways for players of all abilities. It is committed to building a strong community presence, while establishing competitive men’s and women’s professional teams, which its fanbase can get behind with hope and pride.
The women’s team won the Central Wales North League title last season to earn promotion to the Tier 2 Adran North.
