What is Grassroots North Wales?
We are a new and exciting website aiming to give as much publicity as possible to grassroots sport in North Wales.
Since our start date of June 8, 2019, we have covered all manner of sporting events. We also have a special nostalgia section, looking back on some of the great North Wales sporting achievements of the past.
Webmaster Dave Jones is an award-winning journalist who spent 30 years covering sport for various newspapers in the North Wales area.
In 2007, he was named the UK’s best in his field when he landed The Newspaper Society’s Top Sports Reporter on Weekly Newspapers award.
During his career, Dave has also won the Welsh Premier League’s Unsung Hero award, as well as scooping numerous regional and national awards for editing football club programmes, including those of Denbigh Town and Rhyl Delta. In 2011 and 2012 he was chosen as Wales’ media judge for the Best Player in Europe Awards.
Dave decided this year that going solo was the way forward in having free rein to deliver North Wales grassroots sport the coverage it deserves.
