Chirk’s cricketers end season on double high note

Ellesmere 1st XI (1) 90-10 Chirk 1st XI (21) 93-3
Chirk finished their 2026 season on a high note as they clinched fourth place in Division Two with a seven-wicket success at Ellesmere.
The hosts were put into bat and crumbled to 90 all out, Luke Gardner top performer with the ball for the North Wales side with 5-21 off 9.3 overs.
Liam Walker claimed 3-25, while Andrew Swarbrick took 1-15.
In reply, Chirk eased to 93-3 off 17.3, skipper Walker a commanding 54 not out off 38 balls which included seven fours and three sixes.
DIVISION EIGHT
Chirk 2nd XI (24) 254-6 Corvedale 1st XI (3) 37-10
Runaway champions Chirk rounded off a highly-successful campaign in style with a 217-run thrashing of Corvedale at Holyhead Road.
Invited to take first knock, the table-toppers smashed 254-6 off 40 overs, Barry Wilding hitting 65, skipper Dale Randall 51 and Connor Bailey 44 not out.
Bailey then scooped 4-14 off eight, Randall 3-0 and Zahid Nasiri 2-16 as the visitors were blown away for a paltry 37.
Randall ends a tremendous season with 580 runs – two hundreds and three fifties – plus a career-best 32 league wickets.
