Draw for NEWFA Challenge Cup round 2 released – and it’s a huge tie for Broughton United!

Airbus UK Broughton are the cup holders

The draw for the Second Round of the North East Wales FA Challenge Cup has now been confirmed.

18 sides remain in the competition, though 16 will fight it out for a spot in the Quarter-Final, whilst clubs from both the Novira Cymru Premier and Novira Cymru North enter at this stage.

Newly-promoted Lock Stock Ardal North West side Broughton United face a tough test away at top flight Flint Town United, whilst Brickfield and Llay meet in an all-Wrexham affair.

One of the most intriguing ties comes at The Airfield as defending champions Airbus UK Broughton will welcome the winner of Coedpoeth United or CPD Yr Wyddgrug, with either four of five divisions separating the Second Round clash.

Elsewhere the winner of Chirk and Hawarden will journey to Mold, Cefn Albion travel to Bala and North East Wales Division Two side Holywell United will test themselves at Cymru North Buckley.

We round off the Second Round with an all tier-two clash between Ruthin Town and Gresford Athletic, whilst Acton will host Corwen.

Fixtures are scheduled to be played on October 6th. The outstanding First Round ties will be played this Saturday to complete the line-up.
