SHROPSHIRE COUNTY CRICKET LEAGUE – REPORTS JUNE 13

DIVISION TWO

Frankwell 1st XI (21) 240-4 Chirk 1st XI (8) 236-10

Andrew Swarbrick hit the fifth highest score of his career – but it was not enough to save Chirk from defeat at leaders Frankwell on Saturday.

Put into bat, the North Wales visitors were all out for 236 off 41 overs, Swarbrick coming in with his side in trouble at 26-3.

The all-rounder put on 48 with skipper Nick Flack (25), but while others around him failed, Swarbrick went on to score a glorious 130 off 86 balls, cracking 19 fours and four sixes.

Matthew Marshall was top bowler for the hosts with 5-38.

Top-of-the-table Frankwell batted really well in reply, making it to 240-4 off 43.4, Jamie Martindale 75 not out, Ben Smith 63 and Clarke Alaimo 50.

DIVISION EIGHT

Chirk 2nd XI (20) 301-6 Quayside 1st XI (3) 76-10

The smile says it all as Dan Graham realises the 100 will be reached

In a rare coincidence, Chiirk’s first and second team top-scorer both made 130 on the same afternoon.

While Andrew Swarbrick dominated the Frankwell bowling for Chirk firsts, Dan Graham produced an identical total for the seconds in their thrashing of Quayside at Holyhead Road.

Opener Graham recorded his second ton of the season – adding to his 152 against Quatt $th XI in April – as the North Walians amassed 301-6 off 40 overs after electing to bat.

This shot brought Dale Randall his 50

Skipper Dale Randall continued his great form for Chirk seconds with 70 in a big second-wicket stand alongside Graham (130).

Harry Lunt then snaffled 4-12 and George Collins 2-20 as Chirk skittled out Quayside for just 76, wrapping up a 225-run, 20-3 points victory.
