Last-wicket pair Owen Sidney and Robbie Prior put on a match-winning stand of 32 to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat for St Asaph.
Hosts Northop were put into bat and found themselves well placed on 118-1, but wickets then fell regularly and they ended up having to settle for a total of 198 all out.
Ikjot Singh Thind (66) and Sion Morris (42) formed a partnership of 108 for the second wicket, but the rest of the batting was distinctly average.
New-ball pair Dan Evans and Joe Norman were Asaph’s most successful bowlers. Norman picked up 4-40 off 10 overs, while Evans scooped 3-27 from 8.1.
In reply, the visitors slumped to 45-3 before the middle order produced some useful scores.
Matty Ryan made 31, Evans 27 and Joe Norman 25, but the Northop attack kept chipping away and looked to be on course for the win after reducing the opposition to 169-9.
However, Sidney (29 not out) and Prior (7 no) saw Saints across the winning line on 201-9 off 47.4.
For the home side, Mohamed Jayman snared 3-27 off 10, Andy Poynton 3-42 and Bart Ryan-Beswick 3-48. Points: 18-7 to St Asaph, who remain unbeaten and are up to second, just four points behind leaders Menai Bridge.

Denbigh 1st XI (10) 227-6 Mochdre 1st XI (18) 216-8 – revised target

Joe Chaplin’s crucial half-century helped Mochdre edge a thrilling two-wicket success at Ystrad Road.

Shaun Nash led the charge with 56 not out, Sam Lewis added 41 and opener Ranjia Abeysinghe hit 32.
James French delivered the best return for Mochdre of 2-43.
Due to rain interruptions, the visitors were set a reduced winning target of 216 and made it despite being 52-4 at one stage.
Chaplin, who posted 58 off 50 balls, striking eight fours and a six, and Adam Campion (47) put on 91 for the fifth wicket.
Sam Davies kept the good work going with an unbeaten 34 off virtually a run a ball as the target was reached in 39 overs.

Leaders Menai Bridge were frustrated in their quest to make it six consecutive league wins at the expense of Bangor at Ty Newydd.
The hosts won the toss and batted, but were dismissed for just 129, Cian Williams 44 and Smit Parekh 43, Ashley Wood collecting 3-35, Matthew Jones 2-20 and Patrick Glover 2-28 for Bridge, whose chances of victory looked good at the halfway stage.
However, the wet weather ensured the Anglesey side never got to start their reply, the match being abandoned with the islanders taking the better of the points 10-7.
