St Asaph 1st XI (18) 325-7 Bangor 1st XI (7) 211-9

A triumphant Kyle Williams

On the opening day of the league season he was out for 99.
Whatever disappointment St Asaph opener Kyle Williams may have felt at missing out on the ton, he got it out of his system on Saturday with a mammoth career best 192 in his team’s thumping win over champions Bangor at Elwy Park Grove.
Put into bat, Saints lost their first wicket on 28, but then came a huge second-wicket stand of 238 between Mathew Ryan and South African Williams, who was also the club’s overseas player in 2025.
Mathew Ryan departed for 65, and skipper Will Ryan and Joe Norman quickly followed, but as batsmen went regularly at the other end, Williams went on to make 192 before he was sixth removed with the total on 308.
The Springbok’s innings came off 157 balls and comprised 16 fours and 11 sixes.

Another big hit from Williams – who cracked 11 sixes

Saints completed their 50 overs on a massive 325-7, Jamie Moorhouse the most successful Bangor bowler with 5-67.
The visitors battled hard in reply, but were never going to threaten the home score.
Former Saints batter Nathanael Scott was the mainstay with 101 not out – 17 fours – as the title-holders finished on 211-9, Dan Evans 2-34 and Joe Norman 2-54 for the winners.

Brymbo 1st XI (18) 197-4 Gwersyllt Park 1st XI (5) 193-10

James Claybrook and Henry Lunn turned a precarious situation for Brymbo into a winning one as their unbroken fifth wicket stand of 164 guided the Steelmen to a six-wicket success.
Winning the toss and opting to bat, Gwersyllt Park were struggling on 143-9, but a last-wicket partnership of 50 gave them a more respectable total of 193 all out.
Number nine Cai Pearson was the star turn, smacking 59 off 45 deliveries, including four sixes and three boundaries, opener Kastun Stoute hitting the second best contribution of 38.
Sam Aplin claimed a fine 4-29 and Chris Taylor 2-14 from six for the hosts.
In reply, Brymbo wobbled to 34-4, Jack Billington and Pearson taking two victims apiece.
However, that fifth-wicket pairing of Claybook (79 not out) and Lunn (71 no) turned the game around completely. Both batsman struck nine fours, Lunn adding a six.
Brymbo reached 197-4 off 46.1, Pearson completing a great performance with 2-21 and Billington collecting 2-32.

Denbigh 1st XI (18) 223-9 Mold 1st XI (6) 171-10

Half-centuries from skipper Harrison Jones and Sam Lewis helped Denbigh set a winning mark at Ystrad Road.
Calling the coin correctly and choosing to bat, the hosts posted a decent 223-9 off 50 overs, Harrison striking seven fours and two sixes in his 59, while Lewis made 50 exactly, 32 of them coming in boundaries.
Young Thomas Schrimshaw added 31 in the middle order. Jones and Shaun Nash (21) put on 65 for the fourth wicket.
Isaac Allen snapped up 3-49 and Ian Noonan 2-22 for the visitors, who could only manage 171 all out in reply, having been 106-1.
Once opener Allen (55) and skipper and wicket-keeper number three Ewan Hill (40) departed, Mold’s victory dreams were largely shattered.
Stuart Griffiths was the bowling star for the home side, taking 5-24 off 10 overs – the third best analysis of his career.

Hawarden Park 1st XI (3) 157-9 Northop 1st XI (18) 158-2

Sion Morris produced the best bowling return and highest score with the bat in Northop’s comfortable vctory at Moor Lane.
Both these sides had suffered deflating opening-day defeats so improved displays were needed from the pair to turn the tide.
Electing to bat, Hawarden Park set a modest 157-9 off 50 overs, New Zealander Jacob Duker by far their top performer with the willow, hitting 76 off 99 balls including nine fours.
Ian Martin added a useful 35 not out down the order, but the rest of the card was little to write home about.
Morris scooped 3-31 off 10 overs, Liam Moores 2-29 and Shay Williams 2-37, while new-ball bowler Andy Poynton took an impressive and economical 1-21 off 10.
The visitors dipped to 28-2 in reply before Morris and Matthew Williams produced an unbroken third-wicket stand of 130, the away effort reaching 158-2 off 43.2 overs.
Morris ended on 63 not out and Williams undefeated on 54, sealing an 18-3 points verdict for the travellers.

Menai Bridge 1st XI (18) 244-8 Mochdre 1st XI (7) 199-10

ANDRE PEPPER captures the action at Tyn-y-Caeau. The bowler is Mochdre’s Joe Chaplin, the batsman is Matthew Jones of Menai Bridge

Menai Bridge recovered from 32-4 to post a challenging 244-8 off 50 overs at Tyn-y-Caeau.
Deciding to take first knock, the Ynys Môn hosts lost their top order cheaply as quicks Gareth Goodson and Owen Davies struck early blows.
However, the Bridge then began to fight back, Gethin Roberts and Matthew Jones putting on 91 for the fifth wicket before the latter was dismissed for 47.
Roberts and Andrew Nuttall then added another 64. Roberts had made 80 off 88 balls, including 10 fours and a six, before he went lbw to Adam Campion.
Nuttall was run out for 45 and experienced skipper Robbie Jones notched 27 in quick time as the islanders finished on 244-8.
Goodson snaffled 2-36, Davies 2-37 and Campion 2-41 for the away side, whose response ended some way short of the victory post on 199 all out.
Alex Davies top-scored with 46, opener Will Evans making 39 and Matty Humphreys 33, but despite some spirited late hitting from Goodson and Owen Davies, Mochdre were left to rue being perhaps one big innings shy of what would have been a cracking victory.
Gethin Roberts snared 2-22, Ayush Verma 2-35, Jamie Fotheringham 2-43 and Patrick Glover 2-48 for the Bridge.
