NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS DIVISIONS 1-4 – MAY 10, 2025

DIVISION ONE

Brymbo 2nd XI (3) 160-9 Bangor 2nd XI (12) 161-6

Adam Smith’s top match score of 55 was not enough to save Brymbo seconds from defeat at home to Bangor seconds.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, the Steelmen set 160-9 off 45 overs, opener Smith leading the way, Aayushman Goswami 3-37 and Chris Dawson 2-34 for the Citzens.
Bangor replied with a winning 161-6 off 37.1, Goswami 47, Smith 2-25 for the hosts.

Connah’s Quay (2) 260-8 Llandudno (13) 261-5

South African ace Keegan Armstrong scored an unbeaten century for Llandudno in their high-scoring success at Connah’s Quay.
The hosts called the coin correctly and batted, amassing 260-8 with Morgan Duffy posting 82 and Tom Hooson 61, that pair putting on 128 for the second wicket.
Tom Thornton returned Tudno’s best figures of 2-35.
in reply, the visitors got to 261-5 in 42.5, Sam Rimmington (82) totally dominating a first-wicket stand of 72 with Elliott Hughes.
Rimmington’s 69-ball knock included 13 fours and two sixes. He then added 81 with Armstrong for the second wicket.
The Springbok finished 105 not out from 87 deliveries, striking 14 boundaries and a maximum.
Liam Cappiello scooped 2-15 for the Deesiders in a losing cause.

Halkyn (12) 166-6 Gresford (3) 165-10

Nathan Roett’s superb 68 not out guided Halkyn to a four-wicket triumph at Pant Newydd.
Visitors Gresford chose to bat and were dismissed for 165 in 42.5 overs, Daniel Williams 44 and Toby Bellis 31, Alex North 4-27 and Hammad Bajwa 3-28 for the hosts.
Roett led the charge as Halkyn reached 166-6 in 42.4, Andrew Kendrick adding 31 not out and Nathan Lavender 30. Roett and Kendrick put on an unbroken 67 for the seventh wicket, Tom Crewe 2-25 for the Wrexham area side.

Hawarden Park (15) 143-0 Northop 2nd XI (0) 142-7

Opener Corey Cuffe’s undefeated 82 was the main feature of Hawarden Park’s 10-wicket thrashing of Northop seconds.
The visitors could only muster 142-7 off their 45, Darren Williams 37, Michael Wootton 2-25 for the hosts, who responded with 143-0 in 39.3, captain Campbell Marr retiring not out on 42 after supporting mainstay Cuffe effectively.

Mochdre 2nd XI (0) 109-10 Pontblyddyn (15) 244-10

Three fine innings did most to ensure Pontblyddyn recorded a good total of 244 all out – Vishwa Manawaduge 54, Ansh Joshi 50 and James Hughes 45.
Alex J Davies bagged an impressive 5-35 for Mochdre seconds, who were then blown away for just 109, Cayo Jones 4-29 and Manawaduge 4-44. Pont won by 135 runs and 15-0 on points.

Mold (14) 70-3 Dolgellau (1) 66-10

Jon Crane returned second-best career figures for Mold of 6-19 as Dolgellau were bowled out for a paltry 66 off just 19.3 overs after opting to bat.
The hosts eased to 70-3 off 10 to win a game which lasted less than 30 overs in total, Ewan Hill 32 not out.

DIVISION TWO

Abergele (13) 234-8 Llanrwst (2) 174-8

Karl Higgins (58) and Moinak Pyne (56) put on 126 for the first wicket as Abergele rattled up a fine winning score of 234-8 off 40 overs, Gwil Lloyd Jones adding 47 not out.
Robert Parry claimed 3-44 for Llanrwst, who were limited to 174-8 in reply, Aron Hughes an excellent 78, Ranjith Thozhuthingal 2-14 and David Moulson 2-29 for Gele.

Buckley (13) 200-10 Ruthin (2) 127-8

Opener Rocco Franco hit a commanding 66 in Buckley’s effort of 200 all out, Jonny Clayton with 2-22 and Sion Hughes 2-27 for Ruthin, who were restricted to 127-8, Osian Roberts 31 not out, Lee Taylor 2-14, Harri Weigh 2-18.

Carmel & District (14) 149-2 Llay Welfare (1) 146-9

Supun Eranga topped the batting chart with 72 not out as Carmel cruised to 149-2 in reply to Llay Welfare’s modest 146-9.
Deciding to bat, the Wrexham side’s highest contributor was Matthew Cross with 31, Ben Sim 2-15 and Nilanka De Silva 2-22 for the hosts.
Eranga was the star home batsman, as Carmel romped to a 14-1 points verdict, skipper Sim and Syam Sreedharan both making 37.

Corwen (13) 164-4 Menai Bridge 2nd XI (2) 163-7

Rob Storey’s 52 and 49 not out from Tom King proved decisive as in-form Corwen made it to a winning 164-4 after keeping Menai Bridge seconds down to 163-7.
Dion Owen did best with 47 for the Anglesey side, who elected to bat, Simon Harrison 3-24 for the hosts, who took 33.2 overs to reach the winning post, Storey and King in the starring roles, while Andrew Wannop pocketed 3-35 for the Bridge.

Marchwiel and Wrexham (13) 63-5 Pwllheli (2) 59-10

Pwllheli must have regretted their decision to bat as they were rolled over for just 59, Gareth Evans 3-1, Phil Oddie 3-25 and Matt Lawrenson 2-17 for Marchwiel and Wrexham, who staggered a little in response, but got home on 63-5, George Forgrave a key 40 not out off 34 deliveries, Kartik Bhardwaj 2-27 and Iwan Moore 2-31 for the visitors.

Pontblyddyn 2nd XI (0) 45-10 St Asaph 2nd XI (15) 47-0

Another low-scorer at Alder Meadow, with Pontblyddyn seconds blitzed out for a measly 45, Finley Hewitt 3-4, Tim Cloete 3-19 and Liam Moores 2-6 for Saints, who knocked the runs required off in 7.2 overs.

DIVISION THREE

Conwy 2nd XI (1) 180-7 Abergele 2nd XI (14) 182-3

Nathan Aldridge smashed 74 not out as Abergele seconds eased to a seven-wicket victory at Bodlondeb.
Conwy seconds chose to bat and concocted a respectable 180-7, Ben Callow 50 and Bailey Davies 36, that pair putting on 92 for the second wicket.
Aldridge pouched 2-17 and Osian Murray Williams 2-24 for Gele, who closed on 182-3 off 28.4.
All-rounder Aldridge cracked 11 fours and three sixes in his standout knock alongside Sebin Sebastion (45 no) in an undefeated fourth wicket partnership of 122.

Denbigh 2nd XI (13) 202-4 Bersham (2) 145-10

Thomas Schrimshaw (66 not out), William Schrimshaw (33) and Ciaran Lucas (32) all made good scores in Denbigh seconds’ impressive 202-4 off 40, Bersham being dismissed for 145, Anooj Kesavan 53, Alec Lewis shining brightest with 4-21 for the hosts, Lucas 2-5 and John Lloyd-Williams 2-6.

Gresford 2nd XI (14) 78-2 Buckley 2nd XI (1) 77-10

Danny Griffin grabbed 4-9 off seven overs and Harry Morris 4-13 from eight as visitors Buckley seconds plummeted to 77 all out, Gresford seconds reaching a victorious 78-2 in just 12.3, Gez Jones 36 and Craig Morse 32, Alyn Evans with 2-6 for the Flintshire travellers.

Gwersyllt Park 2nd XI (2) 150-9 Hawarden Park 2nd XI (13) 154-5

Jared Bennett’s unbeaten half-ton helped Hawarden Park seconds to a five-wicket triumph at Gwersyllt.
The hosts set 150-9, Matthew Jones 40, Craig Wilson 2-13 and Owen Ford 2-23 for the visitors, who hit back with 154-5, Jared Bennett 52 no, Luke Bennett 45, Alfie Lythgoe 3-31 for the losing team.

Llandudno 2nd XI (0) 100-9 Mold 2nd XI (15) 204-5

Maximum points for Mold seconds after they registered a challenging 204-5 off their 40, Rhys G Hughes 36, Craig Roberts 34 and opening partner Chris Boulton 32, Tudno mustering just 100-9 in reply, Andrew Christian 37, Ian Noonan 4-6 and Craig Roberts 3-12 for the reounding winners.

DIVISION FOUR

Bersham 2nd XI (4) 166-10 Mynydd Isa & Maeshafn (11) 172-7

Opener Abs Dey played a major role with 69 as Mynydd Isa and Maeshafn won by just six runs on their travels.
Put into bat, the visitoes posted 172-7, Umang Desai adding 39 not out to Dey’s fine effort, Shins Varghese 3-31 and Sujeesh Vazhadan 2-35 for the home side, who were all back in the pavilion for 166, Aryaman Arora picking up 3-31 and Jonathan Fagan 2-31 for the narrow winners.

Dolgellau 2nd XI (15) 177-1 Clwb Criced Y Bala (0) 173-6

A nine-wicket win for Dolgellau seconds but an improved batting display for newcomers Bala.
The visitors went for first knock and scored 173-6, skipper Jason Jones and Will Bell both 47, Tomos Slattery 3-13 for the hosts, who responded with 177-1 off 33.2, Philip Deane 88 no and Slattery 52.

Hawarden Park 3rd XI (2) 85-10 Marchwiel and Wrexham 2nd XI (13) 152-8

Matthew Lewis (42) and Nick Husbands (34) were the main contributors as Marchwiel and Wrexham seconds set 152-8, Oyatavya Kumar 3-31 and Myles Bennett 2-27 for Hawarden’s third team, who were sent packing for just 85, Paul Baines 3-9, Anthony Morris 2-12, Mike Lee 2-18.

Llanrwst 2nd XI (1) 116-3 Halkyn 2nd XI (14) 120-2

While Llanrwst seconds did well keeping their wickets intact, they could only produce a total of 116-3 off 40 overs, Stuart Hughes 30 not out, Josh Edwards 2-12, and Halkyn seconds eased to 120-2 in 21,1 in response, Jack Hawkins 52 no.

Pwllheli 2nd XI (1) 121-10 Brymbo 3rd XI (14) 122-1

Veteran number 10 and captain Neil Murray Williams helped Pwllheli seconds notch a respectable 121 all out by scoring 44, Harri Adams adding 39, while Tomos Rhys snapped up 5-17 for Brymbo thirds, who had no problems in reaching 122-1 in just 14 overs, David Roberts 42 no and Gareth Parry 33.

Ruthin 2nd XI (4) 133-9 Connah’s Quay 2nd XI (11) 134-8

Not too many close games last Saturday, but Quay edged home by just two wickets in a tight contest at Ruthin seconds.
The hosts made 133-9 off 40, Quay’s Nick Pratt 2-17 and Hashmat Safi 2-18 and in reply, the Deesiders hit their target for the loss of eight wickets, Akinda Abeysinghe 4-26 and Huw Watson 2-22 for the Vale of Clwyd team.
