Liverpool Competition: Kennedy hits career best 124 and Jenkins takes seven more in Hall victory

1ST XI ECB PREMIER LEAGUE

Birkenhead Park (9) 243-7 dec Colwyn Bay (7) 197-9

Tahir Iqbal proved his value once more to Colwyn Bay

Vital knocks from Dan Russell, Tahir Iqbal and skipper George Johansen all combined to help the Bay grab a draw at BPCC.

The hosts won the toss and batted, chalking up 243-7 declared off 46.3 overs, opener Mark Rowland best with 85.

Charlie Collins claimed an impressive 4-38 for the visitors, Iqbal grabbing 2-57.

In reply, the North Wales side looked in deep trouble on 125-7, but the tail wagged and helped reach a score of 197-9 at the close.

Opener Dan Russell made 53, Iqbal 48 off 24 balls including six sixes and Johansen 39. Number eight Iqbal received good support from Jack Parry and Collins down the card.

Ahmad Safi Abdullah notched 5-82 for Birkenhead.

1ST XI SECOND DIVISION

A fantastic victory for Hall saw Paul Jenkins claim seven wickets for a second week running before opening bat Jac Kennedy made a league best unbeaten 124.

Prescot and Odyssey called the coin correctly and decided on first knock, posting a useful 234-9 declared, Shonak Harsh 96 and Hadley Molyneux 57.

Left-arm spinner Jenkins continued his remarkable form since returning to Smithy Lane by collecting 7-72 off 26, James Hurlin bowling the dangerous Harsh.

In response, Hall raced to 238-2 in 41.5 overs with Kennedy, back with the club after three seasons at Northern, striking 19 fours in his 119-ball innings, Owen Skillander adding a vital 68 not out from 66 deliveries.

Kennedy and Skillander put on an unbroken 137 for the third wicket, leading their side to a 24-4 points success.

Southport Trinity (25) 202-1 Prestatyn (4) 201-10

Despite an outstanding 127 from Andy Taylor, Prestatyn finished up well beaten at Trinity.

Taylor made a career-best score for the club, sharing in an opening stand of 104 with Kieron Tidswell (36).

The rest of the away batting did not fare so well and Prestatyn finished 201 all out, having won the toss and chosen to bat.

Trinity got home for the loss of just one batsman, Kasun Karunarathna taking the only wicket to fall.

2ND XI FIRST DIVISION

Colwyn Bay 2nd XI (25) 210-3 Southport Trinity 2nd XI (3) 121-10

Old Xaverians 2nd XI (3) 104-10 Northop Hall 2nd XI (25) 105-2

Sion Hellen picked up 5-23 and Matteo Evans-Ford 2-21 as Hall dismissed the Xavs for just 104 and then went on to reach 105-2, Tom Hellen 52 no, to seal an eight-wicket, 25-3 points triumph.

2ND XI SECOND DIVISION

Prestatyn 2nd XI (5) 182-10 Hightown St Mary’s 2nd XI (20) 242-3
