North Wales Division Two – good wins for Carmel, Bethesda, Northop 2nds, Ruthin, Menai Bridge 2nds and Saints 2nds

Mochdre 2nd XI (2) 143-10 Carmel (13) 211-6

Skipper Ben Sim led the way with 64 as Carmel enjoyed a convincing win at Swan Road.

The visitors opted to bat first and posted a very useful 211-6 off 40 overs, Sim being well supported by Ryan Roberts (43), while openers Gwion Dafydd and Danny Owens made 28 and 24 respectively.

Zachary Sardar was Mochdre seconds’ most effective bowler, grabbing 3-26 off nine.

Carmel’s opening bowlers Connor Hughes and Ieuan Jones then ripped through the home side’s top order, the first six batsmen all perishing for single figures.

Harri Mostyn Jones (36) and Morgan Roberts (33) produced a mini-fightback, but the hosts were eventually all out for 143.

Connor Hughes ended up with 4-28, Nick Hughes 2-27, Ieuan Jones 2-28 and Danny Owens 2-32 in Carmel’s 68-run, 13-2 points success.

Gresford 2nd XI (1) 111-8 Bethesda (14) 112-3

Played 15, won 15 for Bethesda, who hold a very handy 35-point lead at the summit with seven to play.

Ashley Rowlands returned an impressive 4-15 as Pesda limited Gresford seconds to just 111-8 off 40 overs.

Bethesda reached 112-3 from 36 to wrap up a 14-1 verdict, Richie Parry 46 not out, Ben Parker 28 and Ioan Roberts 27 no, Sam Richardson 2-19 for the hosts.

Hawarden Park 2nd XI (2) 124-6 Northop 2nd XI (13) 126-4

Despite a fine 67 not out from opener Owen Skillander it was a losing experience for Hawarden Park seconds on Saturday.

Skillander dominated as the home side set 124-6 off 40.

Northop seconds hit back with a winning 126-4 in 30.1, Charlie Grieg 35 and Paul Lindfield 31 no, Ela Closs-Sharp 2-2 for the home side.

Menai Bridge 2nd XI (15) 62-0 Bersham (0) 60-10

Dion Owen scooped 4-10 off 9, Ian Granger 3-9 and Liam Bibby 2-19 as Menai Bridge seconds blew away Bersham’s usually impressive batting for just 60 in 25.5 overs.

Second-place Menai then eased to 62-0 in 11.1, skipper Sam Bixby 27 no and dad Matt Bixby 26 no.

Mold 2nd XI (0) 128-10 Ruthin (15) 229-3

Opener Matthew Duckworth was left agonisingly stranded on 99 not out as Ruthin set a maximum points winning total at Chester Road.

Jac Evans added 52 as the visitors ended their 40-over innings on 229-3, Murray Whitehead 29 and Dafydd Roberts 28.

Mold seconds were bowled out for 128, Gareth Davies 40, Osian Roberts 3-43, Jac Evans 2-9 and Joshua Duckworth 2-29 for the winners.

St Asaph 2nd XI (11) 160-9 Clwb Criced Caernarfon (4) 136-8

Key innings from Charlie Williams (43) and Owen Jones (41) enabled Saints to set a large enough score for victory at Elwy Park Grove.

The Saints concocted 160-9 from 40 overs, Barry Roberts 3-23, Llyr Erddyn Davies 2-24 and Ian Morgan 2-28 for the visitors.

Caernarfon gave it a good shot in reply, but were restricted to 136-8, Morgan 40, Charlie Williams 2-7 and Robert Jackson 2-21 for the home team.
