NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION FOUR REPORTS

Llandudno 2nd XI (2) 52-10 Corwen (13) 56-4

Corwen became the first team to defeat Llandudno 2nds in the league this season following a low-scoring affair at The Oval.

Put into bat, Tudno were blitzed out for just 52, skipper Matthew Lambe the only double-figures contributor with 17.

William Pooler took 4-16 off nine, Nathan Aldridge 3-5 from six and Richard Hughes 3-7 off 5.2 for the visitors.

Corwen reached 56-4 off 18.1 overs in reply to seal a 13-2 points triumph.

Tom King (22) and Aldridge (20 no) led the away side home, Luke Regan with 3-28 for the hosts.

Halkyn 2nd XI (1) 231-4 Hawarden Park 3rd XI (14) 232-2

Imagine scoring 140, your team piling up a total of 231-4, yet ending up a loser and the side you represent picking up just a single point.

That is what happened to unfortunate Halkyn seconds batsman Gareth Hughes on Saturday.

Invited to bat at Pant Newydd, the hosts amassed 231-4 off 40 overs, Hughes 140, opening partner Aaron Thomas a career best 54.

Osbourne Allen pocketed 3-49 for the visitors.

Against the odds, Hawarden thirds reached 232-2 off the penultimate ball of the contest, Adam De Rycke 78, Martin Hinton 63 not out, skipper Peter Hinton 33 and Allen 25 no.

Bersham 2nd XI (8) 183-10 Llanrwst 2nd XI (8) 162-10
Match tied

A rare tie in the North Wales League after Llanrwst seconds failed to make their revised target by a single run.

Bersham 2nds elected to bat and were all out for 183, Iwan Lloyd 54 and Vincent Leo 30, Jack Parry 5-34 and Theo Williams 2-15 for the Conwy Valley visitors.

Due to a rain interruption costing five overs, Llanrwst were set a new target of 163 in 40 overs.

They were all out for 162, hence a tie and eight points each.

Joseph Guy top-scored with 32, Bersham’s top bowlers being Terry Jukes (3-52) and Leo (2-19).

Llay Welfare 2nd XI (-15) Carmel and District 2nd XI (10)
