NWCFA CUP SEMI-FINALS

FC Mally v Royal Oak

Winners of four of the last six North Wales Sunday Challenge Cups, FC Mally have a five-timer in their sights this season.

Having already seen off Rhyl Wanderers (8-0) and Millbank (3-0) next up is a really tough test against Rhyl side Royal Oak.

Possibly slight favourites for the Rhyl and District League title at present, the Oak saw off Six Bells 5-1 in the last round of the Challenge Cup.

Mally and Oak have met just once this season in the league – the Junction side winning 3-2 at Maes Derw.

Andy Colville’s side are aiming to reach a third cup final this season, having already achieved that feat the Lee Jones and Premier cups.

There is occasional talk of a fourth quadruple in the air for the Junction men, although there is still much to do for that dream to become a reality.

Conwy Comrades v Y Clwb

The second semi-final is arguably as big a blockbuster as the first – league leaders Conwy Comrades against Y Clwb, still contenders with games in hand.

Comrades are in awesome form – six straight wins and 35 goals amassed in that run – with the league’s top-scorer Jamie Haggas hitting 13 of them.

Y Clwb are already into the Premier Cup final, while Comrades have made the finals of the Lee Jones and Matty Perez cups.

In the only tussle between Sunday’s foes this season, Y Clwb won 4-1 at Comrades in a league encounter last October.

Bells will be out to repeat a 6-3 win at Bow last November, a game in which top-scorer Macca Lewis netted five times.
