Harrison Jones returns to hometown cricket club Denbigh

Cricketer Harrison Jones has rejoined hometown club Denbigh after a dynamic 2021 season with Northop Hall.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a fantastic campaign with Hall in the Liverpool and District Competition 1st XI First Division, scoring a total of 1,081 runs at an average of 49.14 and taking 32 wickets.

He particularly shone in cup competitions, notching 619 runs at 68.18, hitting a century (108) and five fifties.

In the league, he made 425 runs at 35.42 with a highest score of 90 not out.

Harrison saved his finest for the Ray Tyler Cup Final, posting an unbeaten 92 in Hall’s 70-run triumph over Maghull.

He also made 78 in the semi-final success versus Hightown St Mary’s.

Harrison also helped the Hall lift the Flintshire Knockout Trophy, taking a vital 3-21 in the first installment of a two-legged victory against Mold.

The all-rounder is now back at Denbigh, where he has spent the majority of his career.

The Ystrad Road club will certainly welcome his return, having suffered badly in his absence this year, finishing bottom of the North Wales League Premier Division after winning just once in 22 matches.

In 12 seasons with Denbigh, Harrison has amassed 4,827 runs and 352 wickets in all competitions.

Speaking about his return to Ystrad Road, he said: “I’ve loved my time at Northop Hall but personal commitments away from cricket gives me the opportunity to return to Denbigh. They are my home club.”

Winning the Welsh Cup with Colwyn Bay in 2015

Harrison also played for Colwyn Bay in 2014 and 2015.

In his second year, he was named Man of the Match following a 4-20 haul off eight overs in the Welsh Cup Final at The Gnoll, Neath, against Ammanford of the South Wales Premier League.

For Colwyn Bay, Harrison scooped 63 wickets, his best form coming in cups where he claimed 38 victims, including a 5-13 BB in a Welsh Cup quarter-final against Llay Welfare.

He chalked up 593 total runs for the club, 408 in the league and 185 in cups.

Harrison returned to Denbigh in 2016 and was made first team captain in 2019.

After a much-shortened 2020 season due to Covid-19, he spent this year at Northop Hall and dazzled at Smithy Lane.

No doubt he will be a key player for Denbigh in 2022.
