A half-century from Harrison Jones helped guide Northop Hall to a comfortable Welsh Cup victory over their local rivals on Sunday afternoon.
North Wales League Premier Division side Northop won the toss and elected to bat before a good crowd at Smithy Lane.
James Roberts scored an excellent 69 and Thomas Hughes added 41 as the visitors set 184-7 off their 40 overs.
For the Hall, Kieran New collected 2-39, Jac Kennedy 2-41 and Harry Williams 2-48.
Joshua Leach, a 14-year-old left-arm spinner, bowled eight overs and conceded just eight runs.
In response, Hall openers Alex Smith (33) and Alastair Andrady (27) put on 57 for the first wicket.
Kennedy (40) and Jones then added 84 for the second wicket, leaving the hosts 141-2 at this point.
Jones finished 57 not out, he and Will Higginson combining in an unbroken stand of 49 as the Hall reached 190-2 in 35 overs.
Anglesey side Menai Bridge had far too much in their armoury for Denbigh in Sunday’s Welsh Cup clash at Ystrad Road.
Jack Gower (78 not out) and Matt Bixby (48) gave the islanders a flying start with a first wicket stand of 97.
Robbie Jones (54) then joined Gower and they put on 94 for the third wicket.
Bridge eventually set a mammoth 253-4 off 40 overs.
In reply, Denbigh were sent packing for just 97, Matty Jones 4-19, James Jones and Ashley Wood 2-7 for the winners.
