SUNDAY WEST DIVISION

COLWYN BAY 3RD XI (12) 207-7 CARMEL & DISTRICT 3RD XI (3) 178-1

An unbroken eighth-wicket century partnership between Harry Spillane and James Smith made sure Colwyn Bay emerged victorious in a high-scoring encounter.
Bay were 106-7, Nick Bould having posted 43, before skipper Spillane (56 not out) and Smith (41 no) guided the hosts to 207-7 off their 40 overs.
Salim Jan bowled brilliantly for Carmel, taking 3-8 off six, while Ieuan Jones nabbed 2-40.
The visitors’ innings finished with plenty of wickets in hand, but they could not attain the required run rate.
Jan (77 no) and Jones (72 no) put in 164 as Carmel ended on 178-1 to secure three consolation points.
Both sides used 10 bowlers in a fine game of cricket.
