CRICKET: Prestatyn victorious; wet weather wipes out entire North Wales League programme

1ST XI SECOND DIVISION

On a day where virtually all cricket in North Wales was wiped out by rain Prestatyn managed to complete their match which ended in a satisfying victory.

Taking on Parkfield Liscard at Beach Close, the Denbighshire coast side was put into bat and made 131-4 declared off 43.5 overs.

Main strike bowler Kieran New unusually opened the batting and struck five fours in his rapid 26 before Andy Taylor went on to make 35 and Ryan Westwell posted 41 not out.

Parkfield were then bowled out for 85 in just 15.3 overs of destruction from Ben Hughes and New.

Hughes picked up 5-35 and moved onto 50 wickets in all competitions this summer, while New bagged 4-48 to boost his league victims tally for 2026 to 53.

Prestatyn won by 46 runs, took the points 22-2, and sit fifth in the table.

2ND XI PREMIER DIVISION

Wavertree 2nd XI (25) 77-6 Colwyn Bay 2nd XI (4) 75-10

Colwyn Bay remain in the bottom two relegation positions after losing in Liverpool.

Bay seconds won the toss, elected to bat, and were bowled out for just 75 in 29.2 overs, Thomas Omelia top-scoring with 23, while Manohar Rawat landed 4-10 for the hosts.

Wavertree had jitters along the way, slumping to 49-6 but made it to 77 without further loss after 23 overs, skipper Adam Crus McDonald making a vital 31 not out.

Sion Hellen claimed 4-27 and Jaiveer Tomar 2-36 for the visitors.
