Congratulations St Asaph – Premier League champions for the third time this decade.
Needing just four points from their final game at home to Denbigh to clinch the title, Saints secured the amount required via their batting before going on to win the match convincingly.
It was fitting that Asaph’s formidable batting line-up guided them to glory, setting a huge 339-6 off 50 overs after winning the toss and opting for first knock.
Opener Evan Williams struck a superb 94 – 16 fours and a six –William Norman cracked 59 off just 34 balls, nine boundaries and two maximums, the ever-consistent Matty Ryan made 55, while Dan Evans finished 31 not out.
For the visitors, Shaun Nash took 2-58 and Harrison Jones 2-74.
Nash posted 62 and Ranija Abeysinghe 34 in Denbigh’s response of 156 all out, Joe Norman bagging 3-53, Matty Ryan 2-6 and Danny Ryan 2-19. For Saints, this makes it a double as they also won the Flintshire Senior Knockout this summer.
Bangor (18) 118-4 Gwersyllt Park (2) 115-3 dec
Gwersyllt are relegated after losing their final match of the season at Bangor.
The Wrexham side were put into bat and declared on 115-3 off 20.5 overs, knowing that if Bangor took five wickets they would get the bonus points required to stay up and send Park down.
The visitors were also aware that if they scored more than 115 and the hosts passed that total in the chase, Bangor would also have gained the batting bonus points.
Jake James top-scored with 61 for Gwersyllt, Kastun Stoute 29.
Bangor reached the winning line at 118-4 off 21.2 overs to secure their safety, skipper Rob Marshall 33 and Francois Mostert 26 not out.
It was a bitter-sweet ending for Marshall to be named Man of the Match in what was his final game before stepping down as skipper.
Hawarden Park (2) 147-10 Brymbo (18) 148-2
Premier runners-up Brymbo ended their campaign on a winning note as the expense of relegated bottom team Hawarden.
Jacob Duker made a tremendous 86 as Park were bowled out for 147 after electing to bat, Evan Shaw adding 33, while Daniel Parry took 3-34, Ahamadzia Wali 2-31 and Jack Williams 2-36 for the Steelmen.
Brymbo responded with 148-2 off just 17.5, Dikshant Vairagi 89 not out off 48 balls including 12 fours and three sixes.
Menai Bridge (18) 215-8 Mold (9) 173-10
Mold survived in the Premier despite defeat on Anglesey.
Gethin Roberts made 62, Jack Gower 56 and Patrick Glover 35 in Menai Bridge’s effort of 215-8, David Graham 3-47 and Munowar Samsodien 2-33 for the visitors.
Mold were then dismissed for 173, Isaac Allen 48 and skipper Ewan Hill 38, Lewis Foran 3-33 for the islanders, Liam Bibby 2-19 and Gethin Hodgkinson 2-25.
Northop (18) 258-3 Mochdre (6) 255-10
Northop chased down a big total to record an impressive seven-wicket win.
Mochdre decided to bat and were in big trouble at 78-6 at one stage, but the lower order produced some real fireworks.
Sam Davies finished 76 not out off 70 balls, including five fours and five sixes, while James French added 58 as the visitors were eventually bowled out for 255.
Elliot Colclough took 2-26, Liam Moores 2-36, Bart Ryan-Beswick 2-45 and Matthew Mullarkey 2-63 for the home side.
Northop then reached 258-3 off 46, opener Colclough 87, Sion Morris 57 not out. Ikjot Thind 57 and Ben Beaver 32 no, Matty Humphreys 2-47 for the away side.
