Chirk’s cricketers endure a winless Saturday

Despite a fine half century for captain Liam Walker, Chirk ended up slipping to a disappointing defeat at Lilleshall.
Put into bat, the North Wales side were bowled out for a less than convincing 138, Walker leading the way with 56, but the other batsmen all scored below 20.
Martin Williams took 6-25 and Chris Tait 3-38 for the hosts.
Lilleshall got home on 140-6, skipper Thomas Mackriel 67, Alfie Shaw 2-16 for the visitors.
DIVISION EIGHT
Chirk 2nd XI (7) 144-5 Harcourt 1st XI (17) 207-8
Chirl seconds hold a 69-point lead at the summit despite coming off second best in a losing draw at home to third-place Harcourt.
The visitors were invited to bat and posted 207-8 off 40 overs, Tom Stocking the start batter with 100 exactly, Naz Akhtar adding 52.
Dale Randall took 4-29, George Collins 2-29 and Chris Hughes 2-41 for the hosts, who were then restricted to 144-5 from 40, Rob Williams 50 not out and skipper Randall 38.
