Chirk’s batting never hit the heights required to reach a winning target of 213 at Holyhead Road on Saturday.

Visitors St George’s won the toss and batted, rustling up 212-9 off 45 overs, Waheed Rahseed their chief contributor with 51.

For Chirk, Nitish Sharma took 4-56 and Matt Lawrenson 3-36.

In response, the hosts were dismissed for 177, Shaun Walker best with 33, extras amounting to 30, while man of the match Rasheed bagged 5-41 for the travellers.

Harry Lunt

Harry Lunt scored a career-best 119 as Chirk seconds set a high total at Gatacre but had to settle for a winning draw.

Youngster Lunt’s previous highest score for the club was 50 in an under-15s game, but on Saturday he surpassed all that had gone before with a magical maiden century.

Put into bat, Chirk piled up 262-9 off 40, Lunt’s ton well-backed up by Rob Williams’ 50.

Cae Glas’ reply ended on 201-6, Barry Wilding 2-36.
