Lauren Bate will be Amlwch Town Ladies’ club captain and squad co-ordinator for the 2026/27 season.

She returns home to join manager Andrew ‘Lefty’ Wright after spending last season playing for Trearddur Bay.

Bate, 38, was an Amlwch player between 2022-23 and 2024-25, making 34 appearances before the team folded temporarily at the end of the latter season due to shortage of numbers..

She played in 16 matches for Trearddur Bay this term in the North Wales Coast Women’s League before rejoining Amlwch when it was announced the Lon Bach ladies will return to football in 2026-27.

Last month, it emerged that the highly experienced “Lefty” Wright will be leading the project to re-establish a senior women’s team at Town. Working alongside him will be Bate, who is also a respected junior football coach on Anglesey.

Amlwch are former winners of the North Wales League Division Two title and Supplementary Cup.

Wright has a wealth of experience coaching junior, men and women’s football across North Wales.

He was instrumental in first establishing Amlwch Town FC Ladies back in 2011.

Wright and Bate were encouraged by the enthusiasm witnessed at the first open training session last week.

The next one will be held on Sunday, June 7th. All welcome.
