ARDAL NORTH WEST: Bangor City 1876, Port, Llay, Prestatyn and Trearddur Bay all in awesome form

ARDAL NORTH WEST REPORTS – NOVEMBER 29

Porthmadog 5 Llangefni Town 2
Report: Mr Treflyn Jones
At the end of a surprisingly one-sided match against fellow title contenders. Port ran out very worthy winners after turning in a polished performance.
The hosts struck first in the 10th minute, An excellent move involving Caio Evans and Shaun Cavanagh found Cai Jones in the box and his delightful back-heel picked out Liam Morris in space to sidefoot expertly past Cefni keeper Oliver Jones into the corner of the net.
A firm Morris strike thundered off the post before in the 26th minute Jones punched out a corner in rather tame fashion and full back Jack Rimmer gratefully tapped home a low half-volley.
Port could have made it three before the break but Cavanagh’s close range shot was magnificently saved by Jones.
At the start of the second period, Port showed they were in no mood at all to relinquish their firm grip on the game as two fine shots from distance by Ryan Williams and substitute Rhys Alun respectively were saved by the busy keeper.
On 55 minutes, however, the men in black and red found themselves 3-0 up courtesy of a wonderful strike by Cavanagh. After great work by Rhys Alun, Cai Jones, Ryan Williams and Morris, Cavanagh let fly from 25 yards and his curling shot swerved into the top right hand corner of the net – truly one of the best goals seen for many a long season at Y Traeth.
A minute later, a timely interception by Ryan Williams put Rhys Alun clean through and he made no mistake as he blasted past Jones to bring the tally to an impressive 4-0.
The hosts thereafter took their foot off the pedal just a little and Ifan Mansoor, in the 73rd minute, ran well before stroking the ball past an under-worked Josh Cooke with Cefni’s first goal attempt of the entire match.
A couple of minutes later, Port`s Gruff Ellis stooped to head home a corner kick by Rhys Alun for 5-1.
Llangefni had the last word when a shot was initially saved low down by Cooke before Mansoor slammed home the rebound.
Port remain in second place on 31 points, just one behind table-toppers Bangor.
Mynydd Isa 1 CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 3
Corrig McGonigle added another two goals to his total as unbeaten leaders Bangor City 1876 claimed maximum points at Argoed.
McGonigle who reached 150 goals for the club in midweek, began the quest for his next milestone with a magnificent 16th minute free kick to put the visitors in front.
In a fast start, the Citizens had already struck the post via Tommy Creamer, Jamie Reed firing over from the rebound.
On 25 minutes Reed was in the perfect position to put away his 12th goal of the campaign from a Josh Carey assist.
Before the break McGonigle bagged his 20th goal of the season, a typical poacher’s finish after Cai Owen set him up.
Against the run of play, Mynydd Isa pulled one back on the hour through Dylan Roberts, but that would prove only a consolation for the hosts.
Bethesda Athletic 3 Connah’s Quay Town 3
Tomos Hughes’ 94th minute equaliser salvaged a point for Bethesda, who registered a third successive home draw.
Town got off to an absolute flyer, going two-up inside seven minutes courtesy of goals from Pascal Gomez and Harris Thomas.
Captain Osian Hughes pulled one back after 20 – his 16th goal of the season – and Sion Bullock levelled on 24, finding the net for a third game in a row.
Seven minutes into the second half, Thomas converted a penalty to edge Connah’s Quay 3-2 up, and that looked like it might be enough to clinch the win before Tomos Hughes’ late intervention.
Llanrwst United 0 Llay Welfare 1
The ever-consistent Jonathan Collo’s 10th goal of the season was sufficient to earn Llay a tremendous result at Parc Gwydir.
The Welly are now undefeated in eight matches and have claimed 17 points out of a possible last 21, lifting themselves to fifth in Ardal North West.
Collo’s goal came on the hour, J J King providing the assist.
Llanrwst had assistant-manager Gwyn Jones red-carded on 72 minutes before Jack Williams saw the same colour for the visitors after 85.
Pwllheli 0 Prestatyn Town 5
What a way to bounce back!
After losing their perfect home league record in midweek, Prestatyn responded with a first away win on their travels in ANW this season with a nap hand triumph at The Rec on Saturday.
Town took an 11th minute lead through a penalty from Robbie Parry, who then provided the assist for Alex Jones to make it 2-0 at half time.
Pwllheli went down to 10 when Jason Banks received a second yellow on 68 and Town took control, Parry converting another spot-kick after 73.
Sub Mackenzie Stark and striker Sam Henry added their first goals in a Prestatyn shirt before the end.
St Asaph City 0 Trearddur Bay 4

Five straight away wins and a sixth victory in succession for Trearddur Bay, who eventually proved too powerful for the bottom side.
After a blank first half, the Beach Boys took a 55th minute lead courtesy of a Daniel Williams own goal.
The on-fire Tom Hilditch soon doubled the away advantage with his 17th goal of the campaign.
Harri Jones added a third via a Ryan Pryce assist on 65 and sub Sebastian Samuel, a recent signing from Mynydd Llandegai, netted for the second successive game after 88.
