CRICKET: Good win for Chirk 2nd XI, but firsts falter at Bomere Heath

DIVISION ONE
Bomere Heath 1st XI (20) 120-6 Chirk 1st XI (3) 117-10
Despite a fine effort from bowlers and fielders to prevent Bomere Heath reaching the winning post, Chirk had simply not recorded enough runs to win Saturday’s game.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, the visitors were bowled out for 117 in 30.4 overs, James Carter (26) and Mark Shaw (23) the highest contributors, Tom Ellis pocketing 3-34 for the hosts.
In response, Bomere Heath took just 18 overs to reach a winning 120, yet lost six wickets in the chase.
Captain Ryan Lockley was star man with 60 not out, putting on 59 for the first wicket with Toby Jones (34), while Nitish Sharma took 4-52 and claimed a catch for Chirk, skipper Liam Walker bagging 2-26.
DIVISION SEVEN
Chirk 2nd XI (20) 194-4 Condover 2nd XI (6) 193-6
Dale Randall produced a captain’s innings of 59 as Chirk seconds celebrated a great home win over second-place Condover seconds.
The hosts won the toss and put the visitors in, Condover coming up with a score of 193-6 off 40 overs.
Connor Bailey took 2-22 and George Collins 2-41 for the North Wales side, Sam Brooks best for the away team with 53 not out.
In reply, Chirk made it to 194-4 off 36, Randall leading the way with 59, Bailey 48 not out and Daniel Graham 30,
These teams will meet in a quick return match next weekend.
