Proctor: I don’t want to leave Rhyl

Dylan Proctor scored 28 league goals in Rhyl 1879’s title-winning season

CPD Y Rhyl 1879 star striker Dylan Proctor insists he wants to stay with the Lilywhites, despite a club statement earlier this evening revealing he is leaving the Hops and Barley Community Stadium.

Proctor, 21, was a stunning success at Rhyl last season, scoring 31 goals in 28 games as the phoenix club romped to the tier 3 Ardal North West title.

The young striker finished top-scorer in the ANW and was named in the league’s Team of the Season.

A hugely popular figure with Lilywhites supporters, the club’s announcement this evening will serve as a major blow to the Belle Vue faithful thrilled at the prospect of competing in Cymru North in 2025-26.

However, Proctor told Grassroots North Wales earlier that he does not want to leave the club and hopes a deal can still be agreed for him to remain a Rhyl player.

An 1879 statement said earlier today: “With a heavy heart we announce the departure of fans favourite Dylan Proctor.

“We’d like to place on record our sincere thanks to Dylan for everything he has contributed to CPD Y Rhyl 1879, especially during last season’s success as league champions and league top goal scorer.

“Despite our best efforts, we’ve been unable to reach an agreement for the season ahead. We made an offer that reflected Dylan’s talents and the value we placed on him, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet with his expectations.

“Dylan endeared himself to the lilywhites fans ensuring he made time for everyone connected the club, he will be sorely missed by all.

“We fully respect his ambition and now wish him every success as he pursues his goal of becoming a full-time footballer. Dylan leaves with our thanks and best wishes for the future.”

Grassroots North Wales will bring you further news on this story if or when we get it.
