There has been uproar on social media from CPD Y Rhyl 1879 followers tonight after news last season’s top scorer Dylan Proctor is signing for Llandudno.
Proctor, 22, netted 28 league goals last season as the Lilywhites were crowned Ardal North West champions to secure promotion to the Tier 2 JD Cymru North.
The gifted forward scored 31 times in 28 appearances across all competitions for 1879 having been signed at the start of the 2024-25 season by former manager Gareth Thomas.
Although Proctor had featured in all three games for Rhyl this season, he had been switched to a wider role as opposed to the central striker position he graced last term.
Proctor’s departure to fellow Cymru North club Llandudno followed his elder brother Calum being released by the Lilywhites earlier in the week.
Calum has since joined Flint Mountain.
One other Proctor brother, goalkeeper Flynn, is still at Rhyl.
Fans took to social media tonight to vent their frustration at the loss of a player whose goals last season did so much to ensure the Tier 3 title was won.
A number of last season’s title-winning squad have been released by manager Paul Moore over the summer, a policy which has spawned a lot of criticism from supporters who wanted to see players who delivered glory in 2024-25 given a chance at the higher level.
It remains to be seen how the new signings, many from the English non-league, adapt to life in the Cymru North.
Llandudno had not officially announced Dylan Proctor’s arrival at the time of writing but it is believed he was at the Go Goodwins Stadium for Tudno’s 4-0 victory over Flint Mountain this evening.
Rhyl 1879 published the following statement this evening: “CPD Y Rhyl 1879 can confirm that Dylan Proctor has chose to sign for Llandudno.
“We would like to thank Dylan for his contributions during his time with us and wish him all the best for the future.
“As we look ahead, we know our supporters will continue to get behind the management team who through their hard work and dedication when so many of our previous players chose to leave and they still managed to turn last season around leading us to the Ardal North West League title by 10 points.
“Together, let’s keep building on that success, your backing and support makes all the difference and up the Lilywhites.“
