Nefyn can return to the Premier Division summit if they get a point at Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs on Tuesday night.
The Penwaig tuned up for a testing trip to Cae Clyd with a 6-0 away demolition job at Bontnewydd on Saturday.
Headlined by a clinical four-goal haul from Tomi Evans, the visitors turned a competitive first period into a second-half rout.
Nefyn established dominance from the first whistle, dictating the tempo and suffocating Bontnewydd . By the interval, the visitors held a comfortable 2-0 lead, but the true dominance was yet to come.
Whatever was said in the Nefyn dressing room at half time worked. In a devastating seven-minute blitz following the restart, Nefyn struck three times to kill the contest entirely. The Bontnewydd defence was left chasing shadows as Nefyn’s transitions were clinical.
Tomi Evans delivered a masterclass in poaching and precision, accounting for four of Nefyn’s six goals. With a plethora of providers.
Steffan Toplis continued his great form with a goal of his own and two vital assists, Noa Griffith latching onto a loose ball to rifle in from the edge of the box with the 6th and final goal. Rhys Williams and Iwan Moore’s vision and passing also having a big impact on the match.
Assists were shared across the squad, with Moore, Llyr Williams and Evans himself turning provider. Nefyn goalkeeper Alex Ward Jones got in on the act again, recording yet another assist to prove that United’s threat starts from the very back.
The scoreline could have been significantly worse for Bontnewydd if not for the heroics of their keeper, Jonathan Gould, who produced a string of saves to keep the deficit at six, but even he could not stop the tidal wave of Nefyn’s attacks.
Not perhaps the scoreline expected in view of Gwalchmai’s recent vast improvement, but Llanrug were good value for their emphatic success at Maes Meurig.
Josh Evans netted twice to make it 21 club goals this season, while Deion Hughes, Tomos Owen and Sion Williams were also on target for the Eifion Williams’ side.
Leaders Tigers led 2-0 at Ffordd Padarn, were pegged back to two-apiece, but then added another couple of goals to take the points.
Sion Hogan, Jamie McDaid, who also missed a penalty, John Littlemore and Callum Thomas found the net for the islanders, Guto Jones with both for the Darans.
Osian Jones, Elis Williams and captain Ashley Owen’s 22nd goal of the season put Vale out of sight before Cai Henshaw bagged a late consolation for Penrhyndeudraeth.
Chris Jones was on the scoresheet twice and Asa Thomas grabbed his 21st goal of the season as Boded made it six successive league victories at the expense of Celts.
Jones’ double on 79 and 79 minutes edged him up to 17 goals this term, Jack Usher replying on 82 for the hosts when his team were two-down.
Thomas settled the issue on 90+3 from a Jones assist.
Champions Aberffraw received their Division One championship trophy at Cae Cynlas after making it 17 wins in 18 unbeaten games.
Berrfro were a bit under the cosh at half time, 2-1 behind and down to 10 men.
Ashley Davies and Aled Davies found the net for Llanfairpwll after Dylan Williams had edged the leaders in front from a penalty. Will Edwards was red-carded for the home side on 42 minutes.
In the second half, the 10 men took the bull by the horns, Williams making it 2 2 with his 13th goal of the campaign before Arwel Williams and sub Aron Lewis-Davies also struck to win the game.
Town got off to a flyer in windy conditions with Aneurin Saunderson rounding the keeper and scoring in the seventh minute following a neat through ball from Fesgie Osagie on the right wing.
With the half coming to a close, Saunderson turned provider when his cross was headed home by Sion Davies to make it 2-0.
Town played with the wind in the second half.
Osagie went close early when his effort was tipped wide by keeper Jac Williams.
Boro should have put themselves back in the game, missing two good chances. Town were able to finish the game strongly and got a third through a tidy finish from Lewis Heywood, curling the ball past the keeper.
Holyhead could have had a fourth late on with a Charlie Diamond effort tipped wide. The last chance came from the resulting corner with Adam Morris heading narrowly over.
Llion Roberts, Dylan Jones and Marquis Holland collected the goals which earned Llangoed a narrow home win over Gaerwen.
Calum Thomas’ 15th goal of the campaign and a late effort from Cian Williams provided the Auctioneers’ replies.
The Puffins had captain Matthew Morris sent off for two yellows on 73 minutes, while Gaerwen’s Jay Finter was shown red after the final whistle.
