Flint Town United defender retires from playing but will stay involved with the team

Flint Town United defender Charlotte Durrans has decided to retire from playing but will remain involved with the team in whatever capacity she may be needed.
Charlotte’s introduction to football came in the 2019-20 season when newly-formed Holywell FC Girls and Ladies arrived on the North Wales Women’s League scene.
Although it was a difficult season for the brand-new side, Charlotte thoroughly enjoyed the experience, appearing in seven matches and putting her motivational skills to good use.

Despite a better second season, Holywell called it a day at the end of 2021-22 but a number of their players, including Charlotte, then became part of the new Flint Town United side.
Charlotte was involved in 10 games for Flint in that 2022-23 campaign, the Silkwomen struggling initially before improving considerably towards the end.
Last season saw Flint really hit new heights as they won the North Wales Women’s League East Division with a 100 percent record to secure promotion to Tier 2. Charlotte made six appearances over the season.
This term she has featured just once for Flint in Genero Adran North, coming on as a substitute in a 3-1 Adran Trophy win at Rhyl.

Charlotte said: “I’m still training each week but I’ve hung up my boots for Sundays now to focus on spending more time with my family. It was getting difficult with me working every other Sunday and feeling guilty not spending much time with family.
“I’ve been thinking about it for a good few months so it wasn’t a quick decision but now feels like the right time. All the girls and staff have been amazing though and respect my decision.
“I’ve told them I’m still happy to play if they ever need me and will be available for friendlies and tournaments, so I’m technically not going anywhere, but it just feels right now to make the decision I have.”
