North Wales T20 League – Will Ryan shines, double wins for Brymbo and Northop

NORTH WALES T20 CRICKET LEAGUE

July 6 brought the first full weekend of action in the North Wales T20 Cricket League, a competition for Premier Division clubs running alongside the regular Saturday 50-over one.

Brymbo (3 pts) 153-6 (20 overs) Gwersyllt Park (0) 100-6 (20)

Chris Taylor (59) and Connor Davies (51) laid the foundations for a Brymbo victory with a first wicket stand of 100 exactly.

Ryan Collier took 2-14 and Iroshan De Silva 2-31 for Park, whose reply ended on 100-6, Collier 35, Richard Deniz 2-7 for the hosts, who won by 53 runs.

Denbigh (0) 78-10 (14.5) Bangor (3) 172-4

Smit Parekh (42), Nadeem Rehman (31), Owen Reilly (28 not out) and Franco Kasner (28) combined for Bangor to set a mighty 172-4 off their 20 overs, Iwan Jones 2-25.

In reply, Denbigh were blitzed out for just 78 in 14.5, Harrison Jones 35, Idrees Ijaz 3-27, Joe Maltby 2-1, Parekh 2-14 and Reilly 2-16.

Gresford (0) 81-5 (12) Northop (3) 94-6 (12)

James Roberts (24) and skipper Bart Ryan-Beswick (23) led the way with an opening stand of 56 as Northop posted a winning 94-6 off a reduced 12 overs at Clappers Lane, Chris Ellwood 2-17 and Mohammadi Gul 2-18 for the hosts.

Gresford were limited to 81-5 from their 12, Ellwood 29, Wales and Glamorgan 2nds spinner Romano Franco 2-19 for the visitors.

Mochdre (0) 134-4 (20) Brymbo (3) 138-7 (19.4)

Opener Chris Taylor’s fine 56 and 48 not out from George Deniz helped Brymbo over the line with three balls to spare.

Winning the toss and deciding to bat, Mochdre chalked up 134-4, Adam Campion 46, Sam Davies 41 and Matty Humphreys 25.

Taylor and Deniz starred as the Steelmen reached 138-7 in 19.4 for a three-wicket triumph, Marcus Mangiameli 3-17 and Humphreys 2-23 for the losing side.

Mochdre (0) 54-3 (revised target 62) Gwersyllt Park (3) 59-3

Gwersyllt won by 7 runs in a seven-over-per-team contest.

Park batted first and made 59-3, Marcus Mangiameli taking 2-15 for the hosts.

Set a revised 62 to win, Mochdre could only manage 54-3, Adam Campion 20.

Northop (3) 109-3 (18) Llandudno (0) 106-7 (18)

In a match reduced to 18 overs per side, Northop got home by seven wickets.

Sam Rimmington scored 34 and Kai Page 28 for Llandudno as they recorded 106-7 off 18, Bart Ryan-Beswick a superb 3-9 from three, Romano Franco 2-39.

In response, Northop reached 109-3, Ben Beaver 51 not out off 37 balls with six fours and a six, James Roberts 25.

St Asaph (3) 135-1 (15) Menai Bridge (0) 131-7 (20)

Skipper William Ryan scored a day’s best 87 not out as Saints romped to a nine-wicket win over Menai Bridge at Elwy Grove Park.

Bridge won the toss, elected to bat, and totted up 131-7 from 20, Dion Holden 26, Gareth Goodson 2-18, Danny Ryan 2-21 and Mathew Ryan 2-24 for the hosts.

Asaph raced to 135-1 off 15 overs, William Ryan’s effort coming off just 46 balls and including 11 fours and three sixes, while Mathew Ryan struck 42 no from 41 deliveries, three boundaries and two maximums.

The Ryan brothers put on an unbroken 115 for the second wicket.
