Zoe Stopford was a double award winner at the end of a highly successful debut season with Flint Town United.
She was named Players’ Player and won the Golden Boot for her 27 goals in the Silkwomen’s invincible title-winning North Wales Women’s League East Division campaign.
The 27-year-old’s goals tally was produced from just 17 league and cup matches and included three hat-tricks.
She finished as the third highest goalscorer in women’s senior football throughout the whole of North Wales.
Zoe received her award during Flint Town United women’s presentation night.
Awards as follows:
What a fantastic debut season this talented 17-year-old had in a Flint shirt.
Formerly a star player with Northop Hall U17s, Ruby stepped up to senior football with the Silkwomen this season and was a standout performer, the dynamic right winger scoring seven goals in 18 appearances, including one in the North Wales League Play-Off Final.
She also provided seven goal assists over the season.
This 18-year-old wonder ended her second season as a Flint player with 19 goals from 18 appearances and is the team’s all-time leading scorer with 29 goals from 38 games.
She scored and was Flint’s player of the match in the Silkwomen’s heroic North Wales League Play-Off Final defeat to Pwllheli.
Ever-smiling Rosie became the first Flint player to score four goals in a match in October 2023.
During the 2023-24 season, Rosie provided 21 goal assists!
To celebrate her award, Rosie did a brilliant jazzy table dance.
See details above.
Among others praised for their work over the season were key volunteers, husband and wife Stephen and Debbie Hughes, whose three daughters Chloe, Daisy and Rosie all play for the team, managers Elliott Hale, Dan Kelly and Tony Doyle, physio Emily Bennett and social media officer Lauryn Gill.
During the season, Flint played 19 games, winning 17 (including 12 out of 12 in the league) and losing just twice, on both occasions to Pwllheli in the North Wales League play-off final and Betty Pickering Cup.
The Silkwomen scored 107 goals and conceded 21 across their 19 matches.
At one stage, they were on a 19-game winning run dating back to the latter part of the 2022-23 campaign.
All this in just their second season as a team!
They have secured a Tier 2 licence so it remains to be confirmed if they will compete in Genero Adran North next season.
