North Wales League Premier Division – Evans hits ton as leaders Northop move 23 points clear; Mochdre rise to third

Jordan Evans hit a fantastic century as Northop took advantage of their continued luck with the weather and won at Denbigh to move 23 points clear at the Premier summit.
Evans scored 110 off just 93 balls, smashing 10 fours and eight sixes as the leaders romped to an eight-wicket success at Ystrad Road.
On a day where just two top-flight games survived the rain, Denbigh lost the toss and were put into bat, chalking up a more than respectable 200 all out off 48.5 overs.
Young talent Archie Sussex led the way with 75, skipper Harrison Jones and all-rounder Sam Lewis adding 31 apiece.
Sussex and Lewis put on 77 for the fourth wicket, Denbigh slumping from 154-3 to 200 all out.
For the visitors, Matthew Mullarkey took 3-40, Andy Poynton 2-25 and Bart Ryan-Beswick 2-31.
In reply, Marlon Barclay retired not out on 12 before Evans and James Roberts formed a huge century stand which all but took Northop to their winning target.
Evans’ 110 was his second ton of the season and pushes him ever closer to 8,000 career runs spread across spells with Colwyn Bay and Bootle, as well as Northop.
Opener Roberts added 54 and the visitors reached 202-2 off 41.3 overs to seal a 14-1 points verdict, Sam Lewis 2-32.
Mochdre (12) 108-7 Gresford (3) 107-10
Mochdre are up to third in the Premier after continuing their fine run with a three-wicket home victory over Gresford.
The hosts won the toss and inserted the opposition, the Wrexham-area side being bowled out for 107 in 29.5 overs, Chris Ellwood by some distance their best batter in scoring 46.
Three bowlers starred for Mochdre – Aidan Kelly taking 3-18, Matthew Humphreys 3-21 and Owen Davies 3-34.
In response, Mochdre’s Sam Davies was promoted to opener and top-scored with 34 as the home side reached 108-7 in 31.5 overs.
Tom Crewe scooped 3-25, Daniel Williams 2-6 and Simon Perry 2-27 for the visitors.
