Meet the new manager of Ynys Môn women’s football team
He is already doing a fantastic job driving Llangefni Town Ladies forward – and now Dan Gregg has another major role to fulfill.
The Holyhead man has been appointed manager of the Ynys Môn women’s team which will compete at the 2023 World Island Games in Guernsey.
Dan replaces Karen Williams and Mo Eynon, who led Anglesey’s women to an unprecedented silver medal at the 2019 Inter Games Football Tournament, held on Ynys Môn.
New chief Gregg became manager of the newly re-formed Llangefni Town Ladies team for the 2021/22 season having previously led Cybi Women 10 years previous. Llangefni finished 8th in the North Wales Women’s League in their first season back.
Town have already began the 2022-23 season impressively, losing just 3-2 to a highly-rated CPDM Bangor 1876 side first game up.
Although now in charge of Ynys Môn, Dan will remain Llangefni Town manager.
On looking ahead to Guernsey 2023, Dan says: “I can promise everyone that any team managed by myself will fight.
“We’ll fight for our island with passion, skill and hard work. We’ve got an unbelievable shortlist of talent up for selection, a real good mix of youth, skill, grit, determination and experience.
“I see this as the beginning of a new project leading us to the Ynys Môn games in 2027.”
Ynys Môn Football Coordinator Angela Roberts commented “I’m excited about the appointment and no doubt Dan will bring a lot to the team in terms of experience and commitment.
“While the focus will initially be on 2023 given its less than a year away, we are keen to develop a structure with the 2027 home Island Games in mind.”
