As we head towards the final weekend of the North Wales Cricket League 2022 season, let’s take a look at the leading performers with bat and ball.

In the batting, it is highly likely that Gwersyllt Park’s run machine Iroshan De Silva will finish up with the highest total. The Sri Lankan’s form in the second half of the season especially has been stunning.

For excellence elsewhere, though, look at Brymbo’s James Claybrook.

The Wales NC North player has passed the 1,000 league runs mark at an average of 74.71 and compiled no less than six centuries in the Premier Division. What a talent.

Pwllheli’s first team have a great battle going on for top run-scorer with skipper Jason Underwood on 984 and fellow South African Christopher Taylor having amassed 980.

Huge applause also for Division Two’s star batter, Gresford seconds skipper George Morris, while also in the Premier, Llandudno’s Sam Rimmington has had a superb season with more than 900 league runs and well beyond the 1,000 mark in all competitions.

In the bowling, young Carmel new-baller Ieuan Jones has piled up a tremendous 60 wickets representing the club’s various teams and is now very much a key 1st XI player.

Lots of young talent coming through with the ball, including Ioan Jones of Pontblyddyn with 48 club wickets and a major role in his team’s Division Three title win.

Evan Shaw has come on in leaps and bounds at Hawarden Park, while in Division Two, Dion Owen has been a shining light for promoted Menai Bridge 2nd XI.

Again for pure excellence, how about Danny Ryan of St Asaph and Gresford’s Chris Ellwood – 42 and 40 wickets apiece in the Premier. Both men deservedly have featured in the Wales NC North team.

How will the final charts end up after this weekend?

One thing for sure, the North Wales League has proven to be a hotbed of star potential this season.
