Chirk are up with the Partridge after thrilling win

Gareth Partridge top-scored with 79 as Chirk secured a thrilling win which returned them to the Division One summit.

Visitors Bomere Heath won the toss and elected to bat, setting 204-9 off their 45 overs, with number seven Tom Ellis’ 52 off just 36 balls doing most to get his team beyond the 200.

Jonathan Phillips claimed 3-36, Ollie Gough 2-26 and Mark Shaw 2-33 for the home side.

In response, Chirk lost their first wicket on 22, but then Partridge and Wynn Jones (44) added 88 for the second.

Nick Flack (30) helped put on 61 with Partridge before the latter went for 79.

Chirk slipped to 190-5 and were still not quite home, but Shaw (15 no) and James Carter (10 no) guided them to 206 with seven balls remaining.


Bomere Heath 2nd XI (21) 110-1 Chirk 2nd XI (1) 109-10

Not such a good day for Chirk seconds as they crashed by nine wickets at their Bomere Heath equivalents.

Chirk opted to bat but were all out for 109 in just 23.2 overs, David Lunt making the biggest contribution of 26 not out, Emily A Day 3-33 for the hosts.

Despite Rhys Evans striking an early blow, Heath lost just that one wicket, getting to 110-1 in a mere 17.2 overs, Dave Langton 65 no.
