Liverpool Competition – big victories for Colwyn Bay and Prestatyn

Penrhyn Avenue was the scene of a great Colwyn Bay victory on Saturday


1st XI First Division

Colwyn Bay (20) 105-0 Caldy (1) 101-10

Evergreen left-arm spinner Paul Jenkins returned fantastic figures of 5-21 as Colwyn Bay experienced what will surely be one of their easiest wins of the season at the expense of struggling visitors Caldy.

Put into bat, the Wirral villagers were 16-4 before being dismissed cheaply for 101 in 32.5 overs, Martyn Evans with a battling 41.

Jenkins’ five-for came off 8.5 overs, while Patrick Glover claimed 3-35 and Ryan Holtby 2-22.

Bay then cruised to 105 without loss in just 16.4 overs, Will Evans’ 64 not out off 54 balls including 12 fours and a six, while opening partner Zack Gidlow finished 41 no, striking nine boundaries.

Sefton Park (20) 195-2 Northop Hall (5) 194-5

Northop Hall are bottom of the table and still seek their first win of the season after six attempts following Saturday’s loss in Liverpool.

Hall were invited to bat and set 194-5 off 55 overs, Jamie Hodgson making 39, 15-year-old Joshua Leach 32 not out, Evan Withe 31, Waqar Khan 29 and Carwyn Johnson 26 no.

Park made it to 195-2 off 45, Benjamin Percival 88 and George Lee 55 no, to seal a 20-5 points success.

1st XI Second Division

St Helens Town (6) 155-7 dec Prestatyn (23) 156-8

Sheil Sethi enjoyed a wonderful day with bat and ball as Prestatyn enjoyed an away victory on Merseyside.

St Helens set 155-7, Sethi an excellent 3-25 off 12 overs and Sampath Perera 3-56.

Sethi then dominated with 64 as the Welsh visitors reached a winning 156-8, having been in all sorts of trouble on 2-3 and 33-4. Leo Teal also contributed a vital 26.
