My North Wales women’s dream team: Shona Roberts

North Wales Dream Team No 25 sees young Colwyn Bay defender Shona Roberts in the manager’s chair.

The 20-year-old has made a big impression in a short space of time in her senior career, having played for Llandudno in the Welsh Premier and Connah’s Quay Nomads in the North Wales League.

GOALKEEPER

Del Morgan

I haven’t ever played with or against Del but I have watched her in a couple of games where she made some good saves and I’m sure she would be a good asset to this team.
Her pedigree says it all – Wales Under-19’s, Liverpool, Everton and Wrexham.

DEFENDERS

Shannon Hobbs

Only recently started playing alongside Shan with the Nomads. Very good in defence, but can also do a job up top too. Skillful player with confidence on the ball.

Louisha Doran

Easily one of the best footballers around. Very versatile player who makes an impact wherever she is on the pitch. Very effective with the ball at her feet and good for winning the ball in the air. Lou is able to read the game well and isn’t scared to put a tackle in. A natural leader who I wouldn’t like to come up against.

Jas Dutton

Experienced player who is solid at the back. Very composed with the ball at her feet and great to play alongside as she has very good knowledge and awareness of the game.

Keren Allen

Another strong player who is confident on the ball. Keren anticipates the game well and uses her strength to push players off the ball. Very calm player and a good communicator.

MIDFIELDERS

Rach Nattrass

Lovely person to be around on and off the pitch. Vocal player and a leader in every game. Quality player to have in front of the defence and can pick out a good pass. Experienced player who is an asset to any team.

Catrin Evans

Played against Catrin recently with the Nomads and she was a standout player for Amlwch. Pacey winger and good with the ball at her feet.

Anna Jones

Always gives you 100% no matter what. Confident player who is strong on the ball and good in the air. Also not scared to put a tackle in and a quality player for any team.

Kelsey Davies

Lightning fast on the wing and carries the ball well. Hands down the best right winger in North Wales. Proper team player and can run for days!

STRIKERS

Mari Gibbard

Has scored some quality goals and got to be one of the best strikers around. Confident with the ball at her feet and is able to hold the ball up well. Good technical player who is also a right laugh off the pitch.

Candice Nellist

Candice is a strong player up front and is always battling to win the ball. Gives her all and carries the ball well. Always got an eye for goal and so composes herself well.
