Welcome back to Llandudno for Shona Roberts

Shona Roberts is back at Llandudno Ladies FC

Shona Roberts has returned to the club where she first carved out a reputation as a high quality young defender.

The 21-year-old has re-signed for hometown Llandudno, having spent last season with Bethel and the 2019-20 campaign at Connah’s Quay Nomads.

Shona made her Welsh Premier League debut for Tudno in 2017-18 at the age of 16 and quickly impressed the management in the way she adapted to the adult game.

Strong and more than capable of handling the physical demands of the sport, Shona is also very good on the ball.

She began her career at Colwyn Bay, then represented Llandudno from under-14 to U-16 level before breaking into the senior side. She has also played for the North Wales Coast Development Centre.

Now comes a return to Maesdu Park for a team which celebrated its finest achievement ever last season in winning the inaugural tier 2 Adran North League title.

“Being in the last year of uni it’s easier to commit to football being closer to home whilst playing in a competitive team with quality girls,” said Shona.

“It’s nice to be back where I started with old faces and some new ones too.

“Personally I hope I can improve as a player but as a team obviously everyone’s goal is to win the league, but I would love to go the full length and win all competitive competitions.

“It’s nice to be back after a couple months off. Really enjoying pre-season in a team that’s made me feel really welcome. I’m looking forward to the season ahead.”

Shona joins three other new signings announced by Llandudno manager Sarah Colville this week – goalkeeper Libby Rubin, plus midfielders Erin Doran and Mia Rawling.
