Denbigh Town unveil their new manager – and it’s a familiar name at the club

The man who led Denbigh Town to its highest-ever league position is back in charge as first team manager at the Cymru North club.

DTFC has appointed Eddie Maurice-Jones as its new permanent first team manager.

Eddie moves up from his role as a first team coach to lead the side for a second managerial spell at Central Park.

He replaces Dewi Llion Jones, who stepped down last week after eight years and more than 250 matches in charge.

Upon his appointment, Eddie commented: “I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to become Denbigh Town’s manager and to help this great club continue the fantastic work Dewi has achieved.

“Dewi has been an unbelievable servant to the club, not only as manager but as a pivotal part of its success and development throughout his tenure. He leaves behind a strong foundation, and I have nothing but admiration and respect for everything he has done.

“I was overwhelmed to hear the committee’s kind words and truly appreciate the support they have already shown me. The incredible hard work of so many behind the scenes is clear to see and demonstrates the strong community bond, passion and commitment that makes this club so special.

“I’m really looking forward to getting started and playing my part in the next chapter of Denbigh Town”.

Chairman Shon Powell added: “Following Dewi’s departure on Sunday, the committee met quickly in order to establish the best course of action for the club.

“We discussed at length our options and who we felt would be the best fit to take the role, and Eddie’s name was dominant in those conversations.

“His knowledge and experience are something we know all about, and having worked with the group since returning in January, allows us a smooth transition whilst bringing fresh ideas and a different perspective.

“We’re delighted that Eddie has agreed to take on the role, and we’re excited with the conversations we’ve had in the lead-up to the appointment. We’re confident that he’ll have success once again at Central Park”.

Eddie has an extensive managerial background since taking his first role in 2014. Following a season as assistant to Rich Williams-Cooke during the unbeaten 2013/14 campaign at Denbigh, he took the reins at Gresford Athletic.

During his first season as Colliers boss, he won a league and cup double before landing a top-half finish in what is now the Novira Cymru North.

In November 2016, he took charge of Denbigh Town, where he immediately changed the fortunes of the club, achieving its highest-ever finish in the Welsh Football system, runners-up in the second tier in 2017/18, and totalled a 63% win rate.

He departed in 2018 for a role with Rhyl before a second spell at Gresford, which he held for five years before stepping down at the end of 2025.

Eddie returned to Denbigh in January as part of Dewi Llion’s coaching staff, and now moves up to take on the role of first team boss for the second time.
