CPDM Bethel have announced the signing of a top-class young defender and a striker who has played internationally in another sport.

The tier 2 Genero Adran North club have added Shona Roberts and Lois Evans to their excellent young squad.

Shona, 20, already possesses vast experience of playing high level football having previously spent three seasons in the Welsh Premier with Llandudno before joining Connah’s Quay Nomads in 2019-20.

She was due to be part of the new Colwyn Bay side this season, but the Seagulls decided not to continue after being omitted from the eight-team Genero Adran North.

Shona began her career at Colwyn Bay, then represented Llandudno from under-14 to U-16 before breaking into the senior side. She has also played for the North Wales Coast Development Centre.

Attacking player Lois previously played for Pwllheli Girls as an under-16. She has represented Wales Under-16’s and U-18’s at hockey.

Bethel manager Ben Bolton said: “We’re delighted to make two quality signings in Lois and Shona.

“Lois is a great centre-forward and has been improving with every training session and game.

“I’m sure we’ll see her score plenty of goals this season. Shona is someone who we’ve been interested in signing for a few seasons, plenty of experience at a young age and defensively solid, as well as being able to play out from the back.”

Ben also welcomed the launch of the new Genero Adran Leagues this week, saying: “It’s great to be part of a well organised and structured league.

“With everything we’ve seen so far it looks promising – we can’t wait to get going.”

Bethel completed their pre-season friendlies with an emphatic win over an inexperienced, but very willing Llangefni Town side on Tuesday. Jen Cox was the Cefni goalscorer.

Goals for Bethel were shared between Ffion Williams, Fflur Williams, Mari Gibbard, Shannon Jones, Katie Midwinter, captain Gwenno Bolton, Angharad Evans and Nel Huws.

New signing Shona Roberts was chosen as player of the match.
