Meet the Llangefni Town Ladies players and management of 2021-22

Here’s a look at the players and management of Llangefni Town, whose women’s team has returned to football this year after a long absence.

Pre-season results have been mixed, but the learning curve the players are on can only benefit them as they bid to become a future force in North Wales football.

Llangefni kick off their first season in the North Wales Women’s League next month. They have a free date on September 5, but are home to Welshpool Town on September 12.

Nia Ginnelly (c)

One of the most experienced players in the squad.
After a few years break from the game, she has returned this season to pass on her knowledge and expertise.
Mother-of-three Nia, 27, has played for Llangefni Under-15’s and the North Wales Coast.
She once represented Wales in athletics at the MEN Arena.

Sharlee Owen

Aged 28, Sharlee had never played football before this summer, but you would never know this considering the way she never shies away from a tackle and displays quick thinking on the ball.

Alice Pascall

One of the fastest players at Llangefni. Alice, 18, played for Bangor City Girls up to under-16 level.
A quiet player, she nonetheless doesn’t hold back in the tackle and gives 110 per cent each week. A player who is constantly improving.

Jennifer Cox

Hasn’t played since she was a child, but has adapted back to the game very quickly.
Very fast, she knows where the goal is and has proved it in pre-season.
This 24-year-old is another who shows no fear in the tackle.

Tasha Jones

Tasha is 20 and has previously played for Llangefni Juniors, Pwllheli Girls Under-12’s, Prestatyn Girls Under-14’s and Caernarfon Town Under-16’s.
She has also represented Wales!
Tasha has a brilliant first touch, fine control and the ability to hit top-class passes.

Megan Summers

Aged 22, she has previously played for Mountain Rangers.
Brilliant at controlling the ball and opening play up with her great passes.
She prefers to play outfield, but is also a very capable goalkeeper.
Megan is a black belt in kickboxing and a two-time kickboxing champion at Market Mayhem.

Hannah Owen

Hannah is 29 and has not played football since she was at school.
She is very quick on the ball and excels at passing.
Hannah is a very versatile player, being able to adapt to almost any position, which makes her a real squad asset.
She has represented Ynys Mon twice in gymnastics at the Island Games.

Elwen Evans

Elwen is 19 and has played for Bangor City Girls Under-16’s, Bethesda and Llanfairfechan.
She was the founding member of the new Llangefni Town Ladies and always gives 100 percent.
With great communication skills, she is sure to bring her off-field organisation talents to the pitch this season.

Leonie Jones

Has previously played for Anglesey Schools.
Leonie, 29, is pacy and very skillful.
One of the quickest in the team, she is improving every week and building her confidence with each game.

Jess Lane

Two years ago, Jess was named Young Volunteer of the Year at the national FAW Grassroots Awards in Cardiff for her work with Caernarfon Town.
This 19-year-old, who has played for Caernarfon, Mountain Rangers and Bethel, is a strong and confident centre back with a powerful kick and awesome long throw.
Great at organising the defence and keeping everyone in line.

Alannah Miles

Not the Canadian singer who had a worldwide hit with Black Velvet, but this Alannah is very much in tune with her team-mates all the same.
The 20-year-old, who previously played for her school team, is one of the newer signings and is already showing great commitment and passing ability.

Frankie Davies

Frankie is 30 and has previously played for Coleg Menai.
A great defender who never backs out of a tackle, she is constantly improving her game.

Eleanora Coulson

A qualified HGV driver who transports static caravans, Ellie’s height is a big advantage when going into a challenge.
Aged 26, she has previously played for Pentraeth, Benllech, Bangor University and Bangor City.
Ellie is very versatile and can operate almost anywhere on the pitch.

Catrin Jones

This 18-year-old has played for Bangor City Girls and Bethesda Athletic in the past.
Strong on the ball, she originally joined Llangefni as a defender, but has shown great potential in pre-season to perform in midfield in the campaign ahead.

Jessica Marshall

Goalkeeper Jessica is 26 and has turned out in past seasons for Holyhead Hotspur youth, North Wales and Cybi Women.
Showing great determination to improve, Jessica is a very vocal member of the squad and is great at organising the girls where they need to be.

Ffion Owen

Another quiet member of the squad, Ffion is very hard-working and skillful.
Aged 20, she has also appeared for Bangor City Ladies, Amlwch and Bethesda.
She has a great eye for creating passes and gives 100 percent every week.

Lara Cain

Lara is 23 and has only played for the Caernarfon Town Under-12 team.
A very pacy winger who can outrun anyone, supply teacher Lara is becoming very confident on the ball and by the end of the season the management believe she will be a wide player to fear.

Jade Cook

Has very quick feet and is extremely composed on the ball.
Previously a player with Bangor City and Caernarfon, Jade has great ability to pick out the right pass and also possesses a keen eye for goal.

Kirsty Roberts

A player who is improving every week and always tries her hardest in training.
Aged 17, she has previously played for Llangefni and Bangor.
Able to play outfield and in goal, Kirsty is a very dedicated squad member who is starting to come out of her shell.

Cara Hughes

Had never played football before joining Llangefni.
Started playing as a left-back and is constantly growing in confidence.
Aged 24, she works hard in training each week and is not afraid of a tackle.

Llinos Hughes

Now 23, Llinos played for Llangefni Girls until she was 16.
Solid defender who is very consistent, she puts a lot into training and her confidence on the ball is improving by the week.

MANAGEMENT

Dan Gregg

Dan is 35 and previously played for Holyhead Hotspur Reserves and CPD Cefni.
He also once managed Cybi Women.
Dan only recently took over as Llangefni Town Ladies manager but already commands a lot of respect from the squad.
He is a very positive and supportive member of the crew and the girls have already learned a lot from him.

Connor Roberts

Connor is 18 and has played for Bodedern Juniors, Holyhead Juniors, Llangefni Juniors and now Llangefni Town Reserves.
Recently completed his C licence. Connor brings a wide range of coaching skills to the squad.

Dion Parry

Dion is 20 and plays for Cefni FC.
He helped set up the new team and has been part of the coaching crew since it was founded.
Dion brings with him lots of knowledge from studying sports coaching in college.
