A Wrexham-based netball club is celebrating a fantastic spell of success for its junior section.
Rhosnesni Netball Club first started following a 12-week Back to Netball initiative in 2006.
Initially, it was an adult club with three teams competing in local leagues.
Their first junior team was introduced in 2010 and competed in the North East Wales Junior League.
The juniors really took off in 2013 with the team that has just won the Under-16 section of the North West Junior League leading the way.
This particular team called RASCALs have a successful record at the Welsh National Championship which reads:
Under-11 – reached semi-finals
Under-13 – won Plate Competition
Under-16 – qualified for this year’s event which is yet to take place.
They also won North East Junior League at Under-14 and thoroughly enjoyed their latest season.
Rhosnesni now has 200 active members, four adult teams, 14 junior teams, a Back to Netball session and a walking netball initative.
The majority of the coaches are parents and have worked their way through the Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications.
“As chair and head coach of the club I am extremely proud of how far the club has come and we take great pride in making sure that everyone has an opportunity to participate,” said leading voice Sue Williams.
