NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – JULY 18

DIVISION TWO

Carmel and District 1st XI (14) 230-4 Llanrwst 1st XI (1) 133-7

Maneesha Ayomal Nissanka (70) and Supun Eranga (49) set leaders Carmel on their way to another win with an opening stand of 126.
The hosts eventually finished on 230-4 off 40 overs and then limited Llanrwst to 133-7, Aron Hughes 40 not out and Aled Hughes 38, Amer Jamil 3-27 and Ralf Fernando 2-14 for the unstoppable table-toppers.

Brymbo 2nd XI (4) 161-9 Llay Welfare 1st XI (11) 171-7

Visitors Llay won a close battle at the SSC by just 10 runs.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Welfare set a decent 171-7 off 40, David Wright 37, Jamie Beale 2-25 and Sion Edwards 2-26 for Brymbo seconds, who were then restricted to 161-9, Jason Taylor 39 and Harri Davies 32 not out, Tom Davies 3-28 and Jack Edwards 2-14 for the winners.

Corwen 1st XI (13) 136-5 Dolgellau 1st XI (2) 135-10

Jordan Williams claimed 4-39, William Pooler 3-11 and Steff Lloyd 2-15 as Corwen dismissed Dolgellau for 135 and then got home on 136-5, Harry Pooler 61, Jaco Oosthuizen 2-15 for the visitors.

Marchwiel and Wrexham 1st XI (11) 170-8 Menai Bridge 2nd XI (4) 167-8

Chris Woodcock’s unbeaten 96 was the key knock as Marchwiel and Wrexham reached the winning post in the final over to edge a two-wicket win.
Menai Bridge seconds won the toss and batted, posting 167-8, David Owen 48 and Riley McKeaveney Jones 31 not out, Sam Shoemark 3-28 and Sam Heard Edwards 2-16 for the hosts, who hit back with 170-8 off 39.2, Woodcock slamming 18 fours in his dominant effort, Lewis Foran an impressive 3-11 off eight for the islanders.

Pwllheli 1st XI (14) 70-3 Gwersyllt Park (1) 69-10

Second-place Pwllheli eased to a seven-wicket home truumph, Iwan Moore bagging 3-21, Harri Adams 3-23 and Ioan Roberts 2-14 as Gwersyllt Park were blown away for just 69 and the Llyn side needed just 10,2 overs to reach 70-3, Craig Edwards 33, Michael Griffiths 2-35 for the travellers.

St Asaph 2nd XI (0) 151-10 Denbigh 2nd XI (15) 254-5

Opener Gerallt Lyall hit his third career century, scoring 100 exactly as Denbigh seconds chalked up a winning 254-5 at Elwy Park Grove after opting to bat.
Lyall’s effort included 15 fours and he was well-backed by Joe Threlfall’s 56 off 44 deliveries, Russell Moore 2-35 for Saints.
In reply, Asaph were sent packing for 151, Andy Mearns 48, Threlfall 3-33, Josh Jones 2-7, David Kitching and Akinda Abeysinghe both 2-25.

DIVISION THREE

Bersham 1st XI (11) 193-9 Bethesda 2nd XI (4) 189-7

Leaders Bersham remain in command at the summit but had to work hard to edge a one-wicket success as their last pair of batters grasped victory over visitors Bethesda seconds.
Put into bat, Pesda made 189-7 off 40 overs, Cefyn Owen 54 not out, Richie Parry 33, Jijin Joseph taking 2-22 for the Colliers.
The hosts reached 193-9 off 34.1, number nine Noufal Khader a stunning and match-clinching 70 not out, with last-wicket partner Jojo Thomas adding a priceless 31 no.
Dylan Hughes took 3-41, John Maloney 2-24 and Ian Owen 2-26 for the Ogwen Valley travellers.

Buckley 2nd XI (12) 163-10 Halkyn 2nd XI (3) 123-10

Lee Taylor’s vital 4-7 off three overs played a huge part in Buckley’s 40-run win at home to Halkyn at Lane End.
Bucks posted 163 all out, Ross Litchfield-Briscoe 38 and Alfie McManus 34, Oliver Jones scooping 3-31, Josh Edwards 2-25 and Sion Ferguson 2-29 for the visitors, who were then dismissed for 123, Shaun Gibson 45 no, with Taylor’s analysis the stand out while Leon Neal chipped in with 2-21.

Conwy 2nd XI (13) 178-7 Hawarden Park 2nd XI (2) 123-10

Toby Watson’s fine innings of 69 did most to ensure Conwy seconds concocted a winning total of 169-7 at Bodlondeb, skipper Philip Davies adding 37 and Stuart Watkins 34, Daniel Lodge and Thomas Philips both gathering 2-17 for Hawarden, who were bowled out for 123, Callum Davies 3-14, Watkins 3-25 and Lucas Davies 2-23 for the home team.

Mold 2nd XI (4) 218-9 Clwb Criced Caernarfon (11) 222-9

Monis Altaf hit a crucial century as Caernarfon squeezed home by one wicket at Chester Road.
Mold set a formidable 218-9, number 10 Gruffudd Edwards 54 not out, Lewis Pringle 50 and Ian Noonan 35, Shafas Shamsudheen 3-31, Altaf 2-26 and Roddy Denton 2-29 for the Cofis, who responded with 222-9, winning off the final ball.
Altaf struck 19 fours in his 103, Grant Peisley adding an important 35, Dan Jones 2-24 and Keith Embleton 2-42 for the losing side.

Pontblyddyn 2nd XI (1) 119-10 Connah’s Quay 2nd XI (14) 120-2

Rhys Jones (3-19) and Hashmet Safi (3-29) starred with the ball for Connah’s Quay seconds as Pontblyddyn seconds slumped to 119 all out, Morgan Roberts 33 and number 11 James Wrathall 30 for the hosts, Jack Griffiths adding a useful 2-19 for the Deesiders.
Quay replied with 120-2 off 19.5, Lucas Probert 42 not out and Safi 31.

Ruthn 1st XI (15) 214-7 Abergele 2nd XI (0) 97-10

Osian Roberts cracked a commanding unbeaten 84 as Ruthin came up with a winning score of 214-7 at the Memorial Fields, Ifan Hanifa and Andrew Holliday adding 31 apiece, David Moulson passing 700 club wickets for Abergele with 3-33.
Gele were dismissed for just 97, Holliday 5-27, Harry Edwards 2-18 for dominant Ruthin.

DIVISION FOUR

Sunday, July 19

Northop 3rd XI (2) 199-6 Carmel and District 2nd XI (13) 205-5

Vishal Mony (82 not out) and Jason Hooley (38 no) put on an unbroken sixth-wicket stand of 115 which inspired Carmel to victory at Northop.
The home made 199-6 after winning the toss and taking first knock, openers Felix Skeffington (76) and Tomas Bevan (48) leading the way, Aled Proffitt taking 3-20 and Ranjith Appuhamy 2-27 for the visitors, who were 90-5 in repy, Wayne Totty 3-42, before Mony and Hooley transformed the match.

Pwllheli 2nd XI (14) 188-2 Ruthin 2nd XI (1) 184-9

Alun Jones (55) and Ned Roberts (34) guided Ruthin seconds to a useful 184-9, Harri Adams 3-38 and Luca Overfield-Evans 2-16 for Pwllheli seconds, who stormed to a winning 188-2 off 34.2, Neil Murray-Williams 77 not out, Adams 58 no and Ioan Lloyd 36.

Saturday, July 18

Clwb Criced Y Bala (13) 61-4 Pwllheli 2nd XI (2) 60-10

Nathan Aldridge took 4-22, Caio Jones 3-0 and Jack White 3-14 as Bala skittled out Pwllheli seconds for 60 and then emerged victories on 61-4, Nico Jones 2-15 and Cheyne Hibbert 2-18 for the visitors.

Gresford 2nd XI (15) 232-9 Bersham 2nd XI (0) 95-10

Extras (50), Gez Jones (44) and Matthew McCarthy (34) led the scoring as Gresford seconds amassed 232-9, Gokuldas P Kesavan 4-29 and Aneesh Aniyan 2-21 for Bersham seconds, who in reply collapsed to 95 all out, Owain Walker 5-30, Emlyn Morris 2-13 and Sam Burke 2-20.

Hawarden Park 3rd XI (1) 97-7 Brymbo 3rd XI (14) 100-2

Ross Roberts claimed 2-7 and Austin Hart 2-17 as Brymbo limited Hawarden to 97-7 and the Steelmen then cruised to 100-2, Roberts 27 no, Owain Pryce 23 no, Noah Evans 2-30.

Llandudno 2nd XI (11) 169-8 Marchwiel and Wrexham 2nd XI (4) 162-10

Jake Sumbland took centre stage with 79 as Llandudno seconds eked out a seven-run win at home to Marchwiel and Wrexham seconds.
Tudno made 169-8, Sofia Freeman-Patel adding 36, Mike Lee 2-8 and Robbie Williams 2-27 for the visitors, who were stopped short on 162 all out, number 10 Lee a dramatic late 75, Nick Husbands 32, Shana Kelly 4-40, Charlie Russell 3-15 and veteran Jack Rimmington taking the final two wickets, including danger man Lee, to end with 2-2.

Llanrwst 2nd XI (14) 57-2 Corwen 2nd XI 56-10

Abbey Young collected 5-17, Osian Gerallt 3-15 and Tamal Achanjee 2-9 as Llanrwst rolled over Corwen for 56 before the hosts reached 57-2 off 17.1, Laura Nicholls 25, Chetan Patel 2-6.
