Charity grudge match at Brymbo Cricket Club

Caring cricketers are aiming to hit a great total for local children and families living with a life-threatening condition.
On Sunday August 30th at Brymbo Cricket Club, a select North Wales side will take on a squad of South African players from around the UK in a charity match to raise money for Hope House Tŷ Gobaith children’s hospices.
The expats will be hoping to exact revenge after North Wales took the trophy in 2025. None more so than Brymbo’s Chairman, Jason Underwood, who is himself South African.
The family friendly event is free to attend but there will be a raffle, delicious BBQ and bar to enjoy alongside activities for the kids and of course the sport.
Jason Underwood, Brymbo CC’s senior team captain and captain of the South African side, shared: “This year, we’re delighted to be supporting Hope House & Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospices.
“They are a charity that provides invaluable care and support to children living with life-threatening conditions and their families.
“On the pitch, there will be plenty to play for, and it promises to be another enjoyable and competitive match between two proud teams.”
Hospice fundraiser, Bethan Young will be there on the day and commented: “What a great way to finish off the summer holidays!
“We are looking forward to being there and enjoying the sportsmanship whilst sharing our mission to provide nursing care, respite stays and family support to those who need us locally.
“Good luck to both the teams and thank you so much for choosing Hope House Tŷ Gobaith.”
Could you give some time on the day to help the hospices raise as much as possible? They are looking for some kind volunteers in the community to help them with selling raffle tickets and stewarding duties. Contact Bethan Young on bethan.young@hopehouse.org.uk or call the fundraising office on (01691) 671671.
The match takes place from 12pm at Brymbo Cricket Club, College Hill, Tanyfron, Brymbo, Wrexham, LL11 5TF.
