LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTH WEST – REPORTS APRIL 25

Mynydd Isa 0 Porthmadog 2
Report: Mr Treflyn Jones

Osian Evans19 goals in 17 games for Porthmadog

Porthmadog succeeded in securing second position in Ardal North West and sealed their spot in the end‑of‑season play‑off for a place in the Cymru North after a demanding campaign.
The first half proved an extremely one‑sided affair as Port dominated possession and territory, launching wave after wave of attacks against a stubborn and disciplined defence.
Mynydd Isa were more than happy to sit deep, absorb the pressure, and settle for the occasional rare counter‑attack of their own.
With all the pressure, Port created a host of half‑chances. After eight minutes, Osian Evans was first to reach a dangerous cross from Josh Banks, only to see his powerful header bounce kindly off the crossbar and away to safety.
Then, after 10 minutes, Shaun Cavanagh forced Elliot Quinlan into a low save as he struck from a tight angle. On 25 minutes, the visitors came even closer when Quinlan dived to his left to produce an excellent save from a strong Gruff John header following a Cavanagh free‑kick.
When would Port finally score? Well, it came one minute into added time. The move was a complex one, but after Port won two aerial duels inside the penalty area, Osian Evans rose highest to guide the third header well beyond Quinlan to make it 0–1 just moments before the half‑time whistle.
Mynydd Isa’s youngsters pushed far harder in attack at the start of the second half, and Ryan Williams, Josh Banks, Gruff John, Gruff Ellis and Caio Evans all had to stay alert. But truth be told, before Port supporters had time to worry too much, the Traeth lads scored their second.
A low corner was swung in from the wing and, after the initial effort was blocked, Osian Evans was on hand to smash the ball into the net with a thunderous strike from 12 yards.

Bottom side St Asaph signed off with a good point at Cae Bob Parry.
Ifan Mansoor and Dion Jones’ 20th goal of the season provided the Cefni strikes, James Williams and Josh Brown replying for the battling Saints.

Close call but Llannefydd bagged the points on a day where their distant hopes of second place ended with Porthmadog’s success at Mynydd Isa.
Nonetheless, it was a 12th straight league victory for the hosts, whose goals came via Tom Jones (penalty), plus subs Michael Guest and Gwion Owen.
Byron Davis (pen) and Iwan Owen kept Felinheli in touch, Llan’s winner coming in the 83rd minute.
Lewys Turner was red-carded on 90 for the home side, Caio Hughes of Felin being dismissed for a second yellow at the same time.

Llanrwst United 0 Prestatyn Town 0

Rob Hughes was red-carded for Prestatyn in the 76th minute, but the Seasiders picked up a handy point and need just one more from their final two matches to clinch fourth place.
Town have not lost in the league since January 3 – a run of 11 matches undefeated, six of which have been draws.
Aden Shannon’s side still have to visit Trearddur Bay and CPD Y Felinheli.
