NWCFA INTERMEDIATE CHALLENGE CUP FIRST ROUND

FC Mountain 4 CPD Gaerwen 0

Captain Callum Woods scored twice as Mountain advanced to the second round of the Intermediate Challenge Cup on Saturday.
Andrew Merner opened the scoring for the North Wales Coast East Premier Division side on 14 minutes and it was 2-0 just before the break courtesy of Woods from a Jonny O’Sullivan assist.
Daniele Di Marco added a third on 56, O’Sullivan again the chance supplier, then Woods rounded off the scoring a minute from time.

NEWFA SENIOR CHALLENGE CUP

Acton 1 Aston Park Rangers 1 (Acton won 4-2 on pens)

Acton advanced on penalties in this all North East Wales Division One clash.
Thomas Beacher’s 34th minute strike gave Rangers a half time lead, but sub Ethan Callaghan levelled soon after the restart.
Acton had goalkeeper Liam Partyn red-carded on 82 minutes, but the hosts still prevailed in the shoot-out, stand-in keeper Andy Bithell emerging as the hero.

NEWFA RESERVE CUP

Brickfield Rangers Reserves 3 Lex Reserves 1

Jake Barlow was a hat-trick hero for Brickfield in Saturday’s tie at Clywedog Park.
Bradley Wynne replied for Lex to make it 1-1 at half time.

Llay Welfare Reserves 2 Llanuwchllyn Reserves 1

Tom Wells converted a 93rd minute penalty to ensure Llay squeezed through.
Thomas Edwards had earlier also converted from the spot to draw the Welly level after Gwydion Ifan gave Llanuwchllyn an early lead.

CPD Sychdyn United Reserves 1 Ruthin Town Colts 1 (Ruthin won 4-3 on pens)

Sub Daniel Garrod edged Ruthin in front on 84 minutes and looked to have won it for the visitors only for Aaron Shone to equalise after 92 for Sychdyn.
Penalties were needed to settle the tie and Colts came out on top.

Cefn Albion Reserves 1 Penycae Reserves 1 (Penycae won 4-3 on pens)

Caiden Griffiths handed Cefn a 51st minute lead from the spot, but Jac Scott levelled on 89 to force a shoot-out.
And it was Penycae who edged the contest 4-3 to advance to the next stage.
