NWCFA Recreational Women’s League: Wins for Kinmel Bay, Mochdre and Queen Bees

NWCFA RECREATIONAL WOMEN’S LEAGUE – REPORTS MONDAY, APRIL 13

Kinmel Bay 1 (K Williams 23)
Llandudno Valkyries 0

Kinmel Bay secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Llandudno Valkyries in an entertaining contest that showcased the quality and spirit of women’s football from both sides.
Playing on grass at home for the first time this season proved to be a significant advantage for Kinmel Bay, who looked comfortable and confident on the surface from the outset.
Both teams approached the game positively, creating numerous chances and testing each other’s defensive resilience throughout.
The goalkeepers – Hannah Roberts for Bay and Kaye Owen of Valkyries – were in outstanding form, with both sides denied time and again by excellent shot-stopping.
The decisive moment came in the 23rd minute. A perfectly weighted through ball from Becca Skelton split the Valkyries’ defence and found Kerry Williams in stride. Showing composure and precision, Williams drilled her shot into the back of the net to give Bay the lead—ultimately proving to be the match-winner.
Despite continued pressure and chances at both ends, neither side could add to the scoreline. Kinmel Bay held firm defensively, while the Valkyries pushed hard for an equaliser but were unable to break through.

Player of the Match Awards:

  • Kinmel Bay (voted by Valkyries): Kerry Williams – for her well-taken goal and tireless energy across the pitch.
  • Llandudno Valkeries (voted by Kinmel Bay): Kaye Owen – for her incredible saves and commanding presence in goal.
  • Manager’s Player (Kinmel Bay): Bex Gregson – for her outstanding work rate and contribution all over the pitch.

Overall, it was a competitive and high-quality match, reflecting great credit on both teams and the continued growth of the women’s game.

Mochdre Lionesses 4 ( (L Bowes 9, C Howell-Williams 10, L Williams 30+4, S Roberts 30+)
Prestatyn Athletic Dragonhearts 1 (J Green 9)

Leanne Williams proved she knows where the goal is

Assured of runners-up spot, Mochdre made it eight wins in nine games at the expense of Dragonhearts at Coleg Llandrillo.
Prestatyn took the lead through Julie Green, but the Lionesses were soon level when Lindsay Bowes found the net, Bethan Smith with the assist.
Smith also set up the second home goal for Caitlin Howell-Williams.
The third goal for Mochdre was a special one.
An apparent lack of faith from team-mates in Leanne Williams’ shooting ability proved unfounded as Leanne found the net with a quality finish to make it 3-1. Captain Emma Dainty supplied the assist.
Susanne Roberts added a fourth for the Lionesses in the second half, Olivia Sutcliffe this time assisting.
