In a fiercely competitive 60-minute contest, Penmaenmawr Ladies Blues edged a narrow victory over Kinmel Bay Ladies Recreational in a match full of energy, commitment, and clear chances at both ends.
Penmaenmawr started brightly, carving out the first real opening with some slick combination play down the wing before a shot flashed just wide of the post.
Kinmel Bay responded almost immediately – a superb dive producing a fine fingertip save from keeper Nat Minard kept the score level. As the first half drew to a close, Penmaenmawr nearly struck again when a thunderous effort was tipped over brilliantly by Bay goalkeeper Hannah Roberts of Kinmel Bay.
The breakthrough arrived early in the second half. A long ball from Minard found Gabriela Dutra, who brought it under control before unleashing a stunning strike into the back of the net to give Penmaenmawr the lead.
Kinmel Bay pushed hard for an equaliser. Captain Caitlin Blackwell rattled the crossbar with a well-taken half-volley. Seconds later keeper Roberts made a composed catch at the opposite end after a long-range Penmaenmawr effort. The hosts came closest again when Kerry Williams fired a swirling effort from the left that crashed off the post and went wide.
The final action saw Penmaenmawr threaten from a late corner, but defender Trish Harley was alert to clear the danger.
