After 45 minutes of this much-awaited semi-final Penmaenmawr led 1-0 and a shock looked on the cards, but an equaliser in first half stoppage time from Bangor changed everything.
The Citizens went 2-1 up very early in the second half and then ended up running away with an all-Tier 3 tie which saw Michael Johnston’s side struggle to break down a stubborn Phoenix in that opening period.
The final result, however, ensures 1876 are through to the biggest final in their short history and will meet Pontardawe Town of Ardal South West in next month’s showpiece.
Bangor knew they were in for a tough fight against Pen having dropped two points at Cae Sling in an early season league encounter. Phoenix are one of only two teams to prevent City winning in ANW combat this term.
And for the vast majority of the first half, it looked like another epic struggle was in store.
Declan McManus found the net early at the Blue Turtle Arena, but was ruled to be offside.
Toby Jones then fired Phoenix into a 16th minute lead, much to the delight of the travelling fans from Penmaenmawr.
Pen keeper Cameron Darling kept the Citizens at bay until two minutes into added time at the end of the half, Adam Long netted from a rebound after McManus’ initial effort was kept out.
Four minutes into the second half, that crucial third goal of the semi went Bangor’s way as Dylan Summers-Jones headed in his 19th goal of 2025-26.
Pen tried to rally, but on 58 minutes it was 3-1 when Josh Carey delivered into the box and McManus controlled before heading home.
When Anthony Marshall headed into his own net just past the hour, the Citizens were well on their way to the final.
Carey then took centre stage with a quick and clinical brace to make extra sure Bangor were heading through.
A big bonus for the treble-chasers was the introduction as a substitute of top-scorer Corrig McGonigle, welcomed back warmly after a recent injury.
And typically, McGonigle powered in his 32nd goal of the campaign on 82 minutes to round off the scoring.
