The FAW has confirmed it is investigating a claim that a racist remark was made at last Saturday’s JD Welsh Cup tie at the Essity Stadium between Flint Town United and Airbus UK Broughton.
It is alleged the comment was heard during a brief second-half altercation when Flint defender Isaac Lee was shown a yellow card.
A statement released by Flint Town United today said: “Flint Town United is aware of an incident that occurred during Saturday’s home fixture against Airbus UK Broughton.
“During a brief altercation in the match, at the moment our player Isaac Lee was shown a yellow card, an alleged racist remark can be heard on the match footage. Flint Town United strongly condemns racism in all its forms and we are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness.
“We are working alongside Airbus UK Broughton as well as the Football Association of Wales, and we will fully support all aspects of the investigation.
“If any supporter, volunteer, or individual who was situated near the TV gantry or in the surrounding area has any information that could assist with the investigation, we encourage you to contact Flint Town United (flinttownfc@gmail.com) or the Welsh FA.”
