NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – AUGUST 23

Division One

Hawarden Park (12) 192-9 Mold (3) 155-10

Leaders Mold’s 16-match winning run came to an end at second-place Hawarden, who moved to within three points of the table-toppers.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Park posted a total of 192-9 off 45 overs, young Evan Shaw leading the way with 64, while opener and skipper Campbell Marr made 37.
Munowar Samsodien picked up 4-34 and Isaac Allen 2-35 for the hosts.
Mold have come out on top in some close-run contests recently, but this day they were bowled out for 155, Joseff Roberts top-scoring with 31 while for Hawarden, Tom Norris took 3-24, James Martin 3-35 and Ian Martin 2-39.

Brymbo 2nd XI (12) 172-6 Connah’s Quay (3) 170-10

Tom Emmerson took 3-19 as Quay were bowled out for 170 and Brymbo seconds replied with a winning 172-6, Lee Davies 4-23 for the visitors.

Dolgellau (4) 181-10 Bangor 2nd XI (11) 186-9

Number 7 bat Michael Hughes cracked 85 not out off 82 balls, including seven fours and four sixes, to lead Bangor seconds to a thrilling one-wicket triumph at The Marian.
Lafras Van Vuuren made 64 and Jack Williamson 38 as Dolgellau were dismissed for 181, Hughes taking 4-29, Tomos Davies 3-26 and Gareth Edwards 2-32.
All-rounder Hughes then took centre stage with the bat, his unbeaten knock by far the highest in the away innings, which ended on 186-9 with a ball to spare. He also won the match with a six.

Joe Williamson grabbed 2-21 and Jack Williamson 2-37 for the hosts.

Gresford (12) 171-9 Pontblyddyn (3) 124-10

Tom Crewe claimed a joint-third career best 5-35 as Gresford bowled out Pontblyddyn for 124 in response to the home side’s 171-9.
Chris Ellwood made 38 and Daniel Williams 31 in the hosts’ innings, Ben Mason 3-29 and Ansh Joshi 2-28 for Pont.
When Gresford bowled, Simon Perry provided great back-up for main destroyer Crewe, bagging 3-12 off eight ultra-accurate overs.

Llandudno (15) 190-9 Mochdre 2nd XI (0) 71-10

Opener Elliott Hughes struck 72 in Llandudno seconds’ winning effort of 190-9 off 45, Russ Boswell 4-30, Andrew Butlin 3-59 and Alex J Davies 2-23 for Mochdre seconds, who were removed for just 71, Oliver Hughes 4-3 off four, Tom Thornton 3-39 and Lucas Hughes 2-2.

Northop 2nd XI (1) 163-9 Halkyn (14) 240-5

Opener Matthew Towey hit 90, Nabeel Khan 45 and Nathan Roett 36 not out as title hopefuls Halkyn amassed 240-5, Connor Poynton 2-32 and Mark Poynton 2-42 for Northop seconds, who were restricted to 163-9, skipper Joe Griffiths 58, Hammad Bajwa 2-24 and Roett 2-39 for the victorious visitors.
